Zero problems.
This is the kind of car you should buy if you want economy, reliability, funky looks and versatility. The Jazz can return 41mpg around town which is impressive for an automatic. Being a Honda I've had no problems and don't expect to. The rear seating is pure genious. Ours is the facelift sport with a bodykit and natty electric folding mirrors with indicators.
Now the not so good... The Jazz is pretty boring to drive- the steering does not self centre fast enough if at all at times, and sometimes it feels vague. Performance has been sacrificed for economy, sometimes very sluggish off the line. The engine is willing in midrange, but lacks punch. The 7 gears are novel, but a bit unnecessary, once over 3,500 rpm the engine booms- as it only revs to 6000rpm it's low revving nature is the cause of this.
Found it to be quite expensive from Honda dealers, but depreciates very slowly. Impressive refinement.
Honda Jazz 1.4 SE.
I normally drive with the steering wheel in highest setting; but when accidentally driving with wheel lowered I thought a fault had developed. The steering felt strange, with a sensation of "wandering" and needing constant correction. I wonder if this variation of characteristics is "normal" or is, indeed, a fault with our particular car.

I purchased my 1.4 SE sport CVT new in March 2004 and have been very pleased with the car. Performance is at its best driven in sport mode which I use a lot, however this does increase petrol consumption slightly, all said economy is fantastic for an automatic, I am averaging around 43 mpg overall on a mixed bag of town and motorway driving so no complaints there. Space in side is more like a medium sized car than a super-mini. I`ve had no problems at all and don't expect any, I fully expect to keep this car for a good many years because I really don't think there is a better one on the market in its class.
I would agree with the person above. I've had a CVT-7 for a month now and it's proving to be a fantastic car. I've had no problems with anything and the versatility and quality are first rate. The interior room is fantastic; the different combinations in particular mean I can shift loads larger saloons could not. I've been impressed with the auto box and found the refinement - especially at motorway speeds - impressive. The CVT means it optimises the car's engine to the road conditions -- at a steady 60 mph, the engine ticks over at little more than 2000 rpm, which makes for a quiet and efficient drive.
