The serpentine belt came off for the 4th time. It has a tendency to slip off after driving through puddles. Chrysler told me that there had been a design flaw in the 1995-1999 Vans, but that the 2000 had been fixed. They did not feel that they were responsible for the problem that I had with my van. The dealership is aware of the problem and has not charged me for the last two occurrences.
I have a 1998 Grand voyager 3.3 LE which removes its own belt at the first puddle you meet with the offside front wheel at any speeds above 3 mph, not nice fitting the belt in the rain.
Also had to have a new auto gear box fitted as it lost drive in 3rd gear, switched to safe mode and stayed in 2nd, not very economical to say the least.
I have a 2000 Voyager and have had this belt problem since I bought it in 2001. We laugh that the van is great, just don't drive it in the rain!! The dealer tried a new "ribbed" belt, but it did not help. My husband figured out how to fix it himself, he now keeps the correct tools in the van at all times.
