My engine was replaced in July 2004.
My transmision has to be completely replaced April 2005.
The engine was under warranty, however, the transmission will cost $5,700 for us
to replace. I ask myself, is this car worth it?? If the answer is no what are my choices. I am embarassed by my Lexus. I have bragged to all my friends and family, you get what you pay for, and our last 5 Lexus' have been a dream. Unfortunaley this car is a lemon.
How many Lx300 year 2000 owners have had problems with the engine and/or transmission????
I certainly don't expect Lexus to completly replace a transmission with 80,000 plus miles. I do feel given the fact the engine had to be replaced at 60,000 miles, that Lexus should at least meet us half way. All they said they can do is apologize. We have been excellent customers and advocates of Lexus. After owning this lemon, and Lexus not helping us out, I am visiting other luxary cars dealerships.
Why are you looking at other luxury cars? You might have bad luck with one Lexus, but most are not lemons. I had an Es300 and the motor had to be replaced at around 40,000 miles, but I gave Lexus another chance. I now own 3 Lexus's and they work fine. 1 has over 60,000 miles and is great. I did sell the Es and have not bought another Es. I know have an Rx with 31,000 miles and I am hoping mine doesn't have the same problem as yours, but I have faith in Lexus plus their warranty for a certified used is great. Don, t give up on Lexus, give them another chance.
I recently purchased a 2000 Lexus RX300 with 86,000 miles on it, but I made sure my extended warranty included engine and transmission replacement ($100 deductible). Are you saying the factory wrranty didn't cover the transmission?
I just received word that my transmission has to be replaced in my Lexus RX 300. It has less than 60K miles on it and I have it only a year. It is a certified pre-certified car and I hope I don't have any more problems. I really loved it in the winter and always wanted one.
Just replaced our 1999 RX300 transmission for $3800. 71,000 miles. It has been regularly tuned up. The first clue was sticking before engaging from first to second gear when cold. Then, it just would not go into reverse. We have had two LS400s, but did not keep them this long. But they were great and we thought the current car would have more longevity. We are disappointed that this Lexus did not live up to its reputation.
2000 RX300,81,000 miles. transmission wouldn't go into reverse about 3 months ago, pulled forward a few feet then it went into reverse, Noticed non smooth shifting in lower gears so we took it to the local Lexus dealer and explained symptoms. They said that they had never heard of such a problem and explained the rough shifting as "normal". Transmission died this weekend @83,000.
The transmission in our 1999 RX 300 died this week after 164,000 miles. I guess I can't complain. I've decided to shell out $5000 for a new transmission. It's still less than a new car.
Just found out the transmission on my 2wd 2000 RX300 went out yesterday. I put 120,000 miles on it, so can't complain too much. I AM disappointed that its going to cost me close to $5000 to fix! OOOOOh, the price of owning a Lexus.
All cares are same thay just need good care.and less speeding.
I've owned my 2000 RX300 since new, and currently at 168K I had to replace an injector, and coil pack. Upon fixing those I noticed that the transmission won't shift into 4th gear. I guess after 168K on the original motor and tranny it was bound to happen. This car has always been reliable up until now, I plan to get new one and keep this one for a spare car.
