"Comfortable family car with string engine"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Sunroof malfunction in the heat 2 times (fixed from dealer)

Interior started to unglue above right front door (fixed from dealer)

Central hand rest sqeaks annoying (fixed)

small noise from AC (fixed)

peeling of the paint of right handle (replaced handle)

Back ashtray and lighter of this car always get loose and pop out. I have seen several passats with same problem.

Leather on the seats wear too fast. Otherwise they are pretty comfortable

CD changer sometimes malfunctions in the heat. It is during the day 45 C

Aero wipers are very bad. They are made only from rubber so from the heat they became useles and the rubber broke. Also they are much more expensive than normal wipers

Dealer is very very expensive.

On 91 000 km changed timing belt, oil, front brake pads... charged more than 1100$. Have in mind car is still under warranty. After warranty support will be a rip off

General comments?

The car is good, interior is nice. I like it very much. It had several small problems, but nothing major. Dealer price are letting VW down in UAE. If this can be fixed I recommend this car to everybody who needs comfort and strong engine. Car is 193hp, but despite this I do not feel the pick up to be very fast. It is not a sports car anyway.

I find it very interesting the Volkswagen sells vehicles in the U.A.E. that are equipped with "String" engines.

The rest of us get engines made of of various types of metal.

I'm not even sure how a "String engine" works!

I meant strong engine.

Also another update. The car seat belt malfunctioned

Replaced under warranty.
