Car is almost perfect, except for the squeaking from the instrument bezel.

The interior is top notch, minus the dash squeak.
Manual transmission is buttery smooth, don't bother with the always inferior auto transmission, and think of the benefits, wife/girlfreind wont be able to drive it.
1) Please name a front wheel drive BMW. (Minis don't count)
2) That was a very sexist remark. Plenty of women drive standards. (With that attitude you won't have a wife or a girlfriend.)
You are so critical (above). When he says a poor man's BMW he doesn't actually mean it can replace it. Besides BMW is more or less a status symbol since you're most likely not going to be racing down the street over 100mph. And the other part is not sexist. I hate people who say such stupid things. The fact is, most woman cannot drive manual because they do not care and it's a hassle. A lot of guys drive it to fulfill the masculine hegemonic stereotype (meaning it's regarded as manly so guys drive manual in order to appeal to society). Women are not subjected to this and yes I know some women do drive stick. I had to pretty much force my girlfriend how to drive stick in case I'm incapacitated.
In my personal defense to the sexism charge, of all the females I know, 1 drives a standard and another one has a vague idea about what the wobbly stick between the seats does. This was not sexist, but an observation, just like buddy guy said, most women can't be bothered to learn how to drive stick because its not something important to them.
I have an Altima 3.5 SE with a manual transmission and yes I am a female. I refuse to drive a manual unless it is a truck or SUV. And all of my female friend do not know how to drive it and I won't teach them in my Altima. Are you kidding me? They would drop my engine! I love my Altima, even though I have had to have the clutch replaced already (manufacturer defect). Mine is white on taupe though. Looks good although I would have rather had the burgandy on black. All the chrome on the Altima looks so sweet with the burgangy. It's a great ride and I really don't care about sexist comments because men seem to think they can handle a manual better than a woman. I'll take on any man any day. I used to race my 200SX. I really like Nissans and for my next car I want the Grand Tourismo 350Z. Even though my Altima has beaten a few Z's. I don't race the Altima that often. It's still the best car I've owned so far.
I've had 2005 Altima 3.5S for 2 months so far. Completely agree on the dash squeaking. BUT, dealership can fix that crap free of charge!!! I had to go there 4 times, but they fixed two squeaking sources, and they've been pretty much successfull. As user manual states, all the rattling and squeaking is covered by the manufacturer warranty in the first year. Enjoy it!
I own a 2005 Nissan Altima 3.5SE and am very happy with it.
The noise that one consumer said appeared to be coming from the dash is actually coming from the cowling under the hood just in front of the windshield. This can be very easily fixed by the dealer. I believe there is a service bulletin on it.
I purchased an 2005 Altima 3.5SE in Slidell, LA in July 2005 right before Hurricane Katrina hit us. The car has been excellent in terms of the engine and transmission (automatic). A couple of loose window moldings have surfaced which was easily fixed. Also, the interior rearview mirror has come loose as well. I've put a little over 10,000 miles on the car so far. The acceleration and handling is great. I purchased the sand gold color and it looks great with the sunroof, side skirts, and rear spoiler. The six speaker BOSE sound system is very good and worth the extra cost. Of course, a factory audio will never be as great as an after market one. I didn't experience any of the rattling from the dashboard or hood as other owners have mentioned.

I love my 2006 Altima 3.5 SE. It has so much take off power I was shocked. Haven't had any problems with Squeaking or anything actually. Mine is the Black exterior with black leather interior. I am one for the foreign cars first was a VW Jetta horrible. But I must have had a lemon people say. So looking forward to breaking it in...

I'm a guy and I'm fulfilling a stereotype, I don't think it makes me more manly either.
It just puts a huge grin on my face to crank up my VR6 motor and put it through all the gears. I also feel like I'm getting the most out of the car.
The facts are that most of the population, men and women don't drive sticks. For many different reasons. But for me, I just enjoy it while others think it a hassle. To each their own...

Also, regarding the female comment, I have been married for almost 13 years and I am married to the greatest woman on the planet...but, c'mon, weigh-in guys... does a woman's driving style scare you, or what??

I'm a guy and don't really care for stick. These days an auto can do just about as good as a stick. So I don't have to worry about changing gears all the time, especially in city traffic (la)
Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike sticks, when I have the chance to drive a stick, I enjoy it, but auto suits me fine.
Oh and I haven't had any problems with my 2005 Altima 3.5 SE. It works great. Best car I have ever had.
Danger. Change the oil frequently (like 3K or less) than recommended in the manual or you may have a sludge problem that will permanently damage that engine. May be an issuie here long term.
OK, the car has hit 30000K's, ummm, whatever that is in miles, dash still squeaks, but anyone still interested, get the BFGoodrich KDW2's as a summer tire, nothing better. Also, aftermarket clutch, flywheel, computer, headers, exhaust, cylinder heads, camshafts, LSD, 6 speed and a decent suspension/brake package has turned the car into what it should have been in the first place, a G35 4 Door, but for more money. Save your money and buy a G35, all these mods and the car still is just a FWD car, the handling sucks, yeah its fast, but still just a FWD. Looking for a G35 6MT as we speak. Not a bad car mind you, its just that nothing beats rear wheel drive.
