Needed to replace inlet manifold gasket $400aud.
New water pump at another $400.
New timing belt another $300.
Central locking is playing up, but that may be the previous owners fault... this car had not been well looked after!
That said the interior trim is rather ragged and the roof lining is sagging.
I'l start by saying I was pleasantly suprised when I first put my foot down in the Camry... the V6 has some pull. Obviously its still a family car and doesn't compare to say a 300zx's V6, but none the less if you enjoy a bit of power with safety and low running cost of a family car then the V6 camry is for you.
The interior is bland, but comfortable, the dials and gages are all easily in reach.
You sit quite low in the drivers seat so shorter people may have visiblity issues?
The car handles very well and the 4sp automatic is very smooth. The car also has huge boot, you could fit at least 6 15" subs in there!
She zips around town with ease and purrs along the highway, fuel consumption is fantastic for a 3L.
the only down point is it has a bad turning circle, and its terrible to park!
She's done me well, but I'm selling it for a Soarer... but I'm sticking with the Toyota badge!
I have just gotten hold of a Gen 3 Camry Vienta Ultima, my third Camry, my fourth Toyota and the 2nd car I've owned that has a 6 cylinder engine.
I had just sold my Gen 4 Toyota, was unimpressed with it's performance (yes I know it was a 4 cyl, but I have another 4 banger Camry which just seems more responsive. Also, it had a perfect interior and I had conflicts about replacing the factory stereo).
I must say, the 1990's V6 Camry seems gutless (slow?) at take-off, but if you are going in excess of 70Km/h and have to accelerate in a hurry, then she won't let you down. I bought this thing because I have to make quite a few trips up hills, and I don't feel right pushing my 4 banger (which slowed to 60Km an hour while everyone else is flying by at 80). The V6 just rolls up hills!
