Engine randomly dies on me.
Check engine light comes on sometimes and then goes away.
Car sometimes won't start.
Car recently began bogging down.
General looks of this car are nice.
Interior is very roomy.
However, Dodge's 2.7 liter engine has been known for it's many issues.
2.7 engine too many problems needs to be recalled. know of several that have great body's, but bad 2.7 engines.
I'm just now doing the 100,000 mile tune-up on my 2.7l Intrepid and it has run great, never have had a problem with it yet. (knock on wood)
Have you had them look at your cam sensor? We took our 2004 intrepid back to the dealer and they fixed it right away. We were having the same type of problems. We are keeping our fingers crossed that our 2.7 holds together.
This is the worst car I have ever owned; blew motor at 28000 and the new motor is just as bad. I am in a law suit with chrylser now; have any of you looked around your back doors? There is some very bad work on those! I'm told that that is how Chrylser builds them. I could go on and on! Check your car out good before you buy; I'll never again buy a chrysler, ever!
Tommysproaudio@cox.net feel free to email me for more on this; I'll tell you every thing I know about chrysler, and that's a lot! Thank you and have a great day. Tommy.
I recently acquired a 2004 Dodge Intrepid.. exactly 7 months ago with 79890 miles on it. Of course, I didn't buy the extended warranty.. my fault..and now the transmission is gone with approximately 84000 miles on it.
Since I brought this car, the check engine light continues to come on and go off. The body and Interior looks great, very roomy inside including trunk. But wow, the transmission going so soon. Please help if you have any suggestions for me on what to do. Email me at lilchocnsc@yahoo.com.
Frustrated Consumer.
I didn't know the ES model with with a 2.7...
The 2004, I am sorry to find out that I am not the only one with problems. My was purchased from a dealership and I have had problems with the oil light and also the driver side window and now I am having problems with the battery light. I work far from my home and told the dealer that I need a car that could be reliable and also my husband is doing his kimo in another town and we would do a lot of travling. He said that this was a perfect car and it has been anything, but that. Dodge if you read any of these go to hell. Now we have no car at all, and what deal ha ha.
I bought a 2004 Intrepid this past June. I had previously test driven this Model (1999 & 2000) and found it to handle well, have good power, great space and great looks. I had heard there were some transmission problems, but had been ironed out. I bought this car with 60k miles on it and have until last night been very satisfied. I just rolled over 74k miles and at 73k had an intermittent oil light. Had computer monitor check and dealership said it was probably dirt on the sending unit. It went away and the car never acted poorly. I got gas last night and had a hard time starting the car. I now have an engine light on and the car acts like it wants to quit running. Oil still looks very good, at 2k miles since last change. I've changed it every 3k miles or less. Hope I can get this solved.
Once the oil and heat problems begin with the 2.7 engine, that's your first warning sign.
I'll give you the advice my mechanic gave me when my 2.7 Chrysler product started having these problems -- FIX IT AND GET RID OF IT! It only gets worse from here and a new engine will cost you at least $4K to $7K installed.
