Brake lever needs lubrication, some noise upon breaking maybe brake pads still new.
Overtaking rather slow, pickup slow accelerate gradually improve at higher speed. Its better to use overdrive gear during overtaking.
Fuel consumption average, approx.11litre/km.
Some blind spots area from the rear cannot be seen. An option is to fix a rear mirror could solve the problem.
Handling and Steering good. Quite stable on highway like long distance travel except on bumpy roads.
Visibility and comfortable great, thanks to the higher headroom design. Seats wonderful and spacious like most MPVs.
Design is superb!Italian Mini MPV.
Overall performance good for family car. Wonderful ride.
I have seen a lot of these cars on the roads nowadays. Comments are good so far and I'm considering to get one. What about the spare parts availability and after sales/service warranty?...Sani.
I have read a recurring criticism of the Matrix that annoys me. "A poor MPV as the seats don't fold flat to give a larger carrying area".
I think the carrying area is quite sufficient when the seats are moved forward and copes very well with tall containers of the sort I use to take garden rubbish to the tip.
Three months ago I bought the Matrix and am really delighted with the many advanced and thoughtful design features. I believe it is excellent value.
What is the fuel consumption like?A car agent told me 14km/ liter. Is that an exaggeration?
I have a 1.6 GLS Automatic Matrix. No matter how I try, I just cannot bring fuel consumption down. Most of my driving is in horrendous city traffic in Manila and I get 6 kms. to a liter. On the highway, I can bring this up to 14 to 15 kms to a liter as long as I do not exceed 100 for long stretches. My unit has a catalytic converter so I cannot touch that until my warranty runs out in one more year (I have a May 2003 model).
Chrome on headlamp surround is beginning to bubble, which is a problem one owner mentioned in this forum, and which I will bring to attention of my dealer for replacement.
I too hail from Manila and no matter what driving style I do to maximize mileage, I still end up between 6 to 7 Km/liter city driving. Aside from removing the catalytic converter to save on gas, what other options do I try? I really want to retain the catalytic converter to do my share in protecting the environment.
With regards to the "bubbles" on the headlamp assembly, the dealer was able to replace them both and I have not experienced the "bubbles" with the replacements, so it must be a supplier issue.
I had this car for two years and so far my only big issue is the fuel consumption.
I was a skeptical owner of a Matrix 4 years ago when I bought the car, but 4 years on it is still working well and handles incredibly on long distance and city drive. the interior is probably the best compared to any other cars its price range. Only complaint is the weak pick-up.
I'm from S.A. I bought my Matrix 2 months ago. It gives me 12km/l in the city and 15km/l open road. My friends calls it a small Big car because its so spacious. A really enjoyable ride. Its manual, and one of my best cars yet!
Maybe by adding "Spark-optimiser" (brand = Ultimate) could help to boost the starting speed. Some recommended a "capsule" (brand = Platinum).
I had an brand new hyundai matrix 1 year ago
it's a perfect driving car with a big room that I could carry 4 persons in my rear seat.
It's sound system is excellent and it's interior design is good.
It's 1.6 motor is slightly perfect and it's default tires aren't very good cause 14' tires is not perfect for this mcv.
It's a perfect car in drifting and in car showing.
There is only a one thing you must do before you ride as getting a new 15' tires specially if you will do some drift actions by it
it's general reputation is 4/5.

Hi guys
i have owned the matrix for 3 years now its OK my wife drives the car
I'm going to change the tyres now and go 14'' to 15'
no problems so far
what tyres to choose???
I am from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I have the 1.6L model.
I think the car is very fuel consuming, about 12L/100km, that is about 4.76Km per Liter.
Pros:
1. Nice interior.
2. Very spacious and comfortable.
Cons:
1. Very under power.
2. Poor pick up speed.
3. Inconsistent performance (Sometimes the car runs fast, sometimes super slow).
4. Poor re-sale value. I lost 62.5% of the purchasing value in less than 5 years.
