1996 Nissan Maxima SE from North America - Comments

"(1995+) :Absolutely the best, most underrated, affordable, luxury, and reliable car in North Americ"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

I have never had a problem with this car, other than the week after I purchased it; the rear suspension had problems ($360 CAD). I had the car for 3 years.

General comments?

I always used premium gas, and changed the oil every 3000km, or 3 months. Other than that, I beat the s**t out of that car. I always accelerated fast, always kept the engine working hard and in high rpm's. I beat up the clutch pretty bad, and it never failed on me, though felt a little worn near the end of my ownership. I was never 'gentle' with the car.

The car was fully loaded (leather power heated seats, power heated mirrors, moon/sunroof, keyless entry, dual airbags, AC, etc..), dead reliable, and was bought for cheap.

This car had a lot of power, and was a very very smooth drive. The acceleration was amazing. The car wasn't the greatest for corners, but other than that I thought it was perfect. Remember, this is a "family sedan" we're talking about, though 'SE' stands for "sport edition".

The car's interior is nice and classy, and very comfy. The stock shifter knob is a nice plain leather, and nice leather wrapped steering wheel too. Beautiful stuff.

I checked out camrys, accords, legends, 626s, millenias,.. and the maxima was BY FAR the best in it's class. No matter what anyone else says.

I hope to have another one in the near future.

FYI- I would still have it, if I didn't crash it : (

Sounds like it was a good car. Sorry to read that you

eventually destroyed it.
