Nothing really, the only real fault with the car was the starter motor pinion wearing out, but that was no problem.
Another thing that has gone wrong is that the bodywork has corroded under the arches, but hey, I ain't complaining.
A highly recommended car, I have owned everything from a BMW to a Rover, but I always find myself affiliated to the Nissan Cherry.
I have owned three in total, a 3 door GS, a 5 door GL and a 5 door GSL. I hope to own a turbo in the future, but they are getting scarcer by the day.
My 3 door has been parked up for about eighteen months now, it's going through a restoration process. Long live the Cherry!
I agree with you... the car is very good... i had also a cherry 1.5 l 3 doors, I sold it because of it's age... but now I regret... a have a mercedes 190 e 2.3l and it's not so comfortable as the cherry... it consumes a lot of gasoline and it's not so handling.
Like you've said... the only problems with this cars are: starter and the rust at the sideskirts.
My father bought it from England in 1993 and since then I haven't had any problems with the engine... only the starter.
I think the engine was never fixed or refixed... all the regards from Romania.
