"Style on Wheels"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Nothing has gone wrong so far, on-board satellite navigation didn't work when I received the car, but it was fixed quickly.

The only fault I seem to hear from my wife is that the passenger seat is a tiny bit cramped.

General comments?

Very nice car, well worth the money I paid for it. Bought it second hand to avoid the very long queue. Find it a nice change from my normal road car which I drive-the Range Rover.

Its pretty quick, and I love the purr of the engine when it revs up high. Overtakes 'boy racers' in their Skylines fairly easily!

Very classy, and is a dream to look at as expected!

Bought second-hand?

At 300 miles?

Previous owner bored with it?

Or was it bought to make a profit?

I am not sure if this person owns a DB9 as his English is appalling and doesn't know much about this car. The car has been designed and built for even the tallest person.

The seats are bolstered on the sides. If his wife is particularly wide, then she will not find them comfortable.

My saxo is pretty quick. Your car is 350bhp more powerful. I think its more than pretty quick.

If the boy racers are in a Mitsubishi Evolution, then they might beat you!

For the price of this car, you should be able to outrun anything!

Your DB9 won't overtake a skyline because both cars accelerate at the same rate. Although for the price it should do...

Db9 are meant to be very unreliable, how many times have you broken down?

I really would like to know what is up with their transmissions!! I have had 3 put in mine and they can't seem to handle the power transfering to the rear wheels, it jsut bogs down with only a chirp if I power break it.

Hi.

I was thinking of buying the DB9 next weekend, I have noticed mixed thoughts on the car. Would you guys recommend buying it?

I have read there are a lot of problems with build quality and I usually do a lot of mileage in my cars, what do actual DB9 owners think?

My other choice would be the Ferrari F430 but I like the styling of the DB9 better.

I have already owned the Mercedes SL55 and Porsche 911 Turbo and would like to get a different car this time, would anyone recommend a better car?

I would highly recommend this car, but as one of the previous commentators pointed out, the transmission is worriesome. I am on my 2nd right now, and I am not sure if it is the transmission itself, or if its just a dipsy dealer. however, the car excels in every other aspect, much better than my previous XK8, which I thought was rather boring. as it is, I have not had any reliability issues and everything, concerning maintenance is rather expensive, though

good luck on whichever car you choose, as I am writing this well after your comment was written.

To the guy who owned the SL55 and TT911, there is only one way to go. Ferrari. Or Lamborghini. OK, DB9 will do fine too.

I am very disappointed to see why they've wrecked the front look and done nothing good. They could've left it they way it looked with Rapide headlights, taillights, interior, and wheels and most importantly change the engine.

Ferrari get 490 bhp (360kW) from their 4.3 litre V8 in the F430, and also Porsche Carrera GT is 5.7 V10 605 bhp. WT? Aston 6.0 Litre V12 and only 450 bhp (331kW).

f you're arguing that it's a front engine, then take Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano 6.0 Litre V12 (front-engined) 620 bhp. Why can't Aston do that. Are they scared it will be faster than the Vanquish; so what. It looks better too.

They're stuck with 50/50 weight and they can't put a proper engine. Put a supercharger or some thing. Mercedes have gone crazy and developed 660 bhp from the V8 Supercharged SLR.

Even the interior on the Aston; the navigator doesn't play DVDs or have internet or TV. Porsche have that in the cheaper 911 S and Cayenne.

The price of the Aston is outrageous considering it can't handle or brake like a 911 Turbo (which it similarly costs). They should put carbon ceramic brakes and proper suspension set-up.

It can't handle or brake like a Porsche Turbo because the Aston is about 300lbs heavier. It doesn't matter what you do to the brakes or suspension, weight kills performance. End of story.

Recently drove an 07 DB9 and there really is no comparison to a boy racer. Forget the performance, you should hear the sound of a DB9. Best way I can describe it is somewhere between an SL55 and Ferrari F430 for pure aural pleasure. I am sure you can google the sound if you really want to see, er, hear what I mean.

As for performance, don't forget the Aston is a super responsive, naturally aspirated V12 so most laggy turbos cannot compete. Indeed the most amazing thing about the DB9 is how overly sensitive the throttle was. Definitely a car to be careful with.
