"It's a BEAST"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Carburettor.

Rust in the floor.

General comments?

If you want a good cheap car that's not a gas guzzler, they're great.

Totally agree, my te gemini gets redlined in every gear and still manages to return about 400 kilometrez per tank.

I am looking to buy a 1983 TE Gemini, it's a dark blue (new paint job), and it has rust in the boot, how can that be fixed???

I just wondering what people's opinions on this car are and what the major problems are??

I have this car and over the years it has turned into a Rustbucket. The bottom of the passenger door has a massive rust hole in it and the whole car has rust on it. The head gasket is blown and even when it wasn't, the car couldn't really get to 100k's without struggling. The gears crunch too. However I am planning to do it up and completely redo it. Does anyone think it is possible to fit a V6 in a gemini of this size, cos I am willing to completely overhaul it and put the engine in the boot as it seems to have more room. Oh yeah and I saw on a site that nitrous oxide for gemini's is available. I would have thought with the addition of nitrous oxide in such a small car would it blow up.

Hey I have a 81 Te Gemini and I'm going to put a supercharged commodore v6 in it it will be sitting low on airbag suspension and I'm going to shave the body. I was wondering if anybody new where I could get an enginering certificate from in the n.s.w area in the riverina area.

I have a 1981 TE Gemini that I have been converting to a Ecotec v6. The engine fits like a dream in the front. Bad idea putting it in the boot mate.

I had similar rust problems to everyone else, but the worst of it was beneath the rear windscreen seals. I had to cut out that piece from another Gemini and weld it in just to get the windscreen to sit in place. So much extra work!

Yes it is completely possible to NOS a standard Gemini for a 50 shot. I have a 1983 SLX with a g200 engine, custom exhaust manifold to hold a sr20det's turbo running 13psi. Only parts that aren't standard.
