Head gasket blew around 115,000 miles.
Blew engine rod 3 thousand miles after head gasket blew.
Blower for AC went right after engine.
Alternator went out around 126,000 miles.
Leaky radiator hose around 128,000.
I love and hate this car at the same time.
Its one of the most beautiful cars on the road still at 11 years old.
But I'm still in love with this astronomically high maitneance car.
"Blew engine rod 3 thousand miles after head gasket blew."
...A connecting rod letting go in a Northstar engine???!!!
THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE!!!
I love my 97 Seville sls, but let me tell you that I have had some expensive problems as well. My main concerns stem from leaky coolant system that spews coolant whenever I get caught in a traffic jam. However, the car does not seem to overheat. This, in addition to the oil leak of course. Beautiful car, dirty driveway!
The engine coolant leaking when your at a red light means you need a water pump. Or on my 95 Seville the water pump bolts seemed to come loose, and when I was replacing the water pump I noticed it. Chances are its the water pump bolts, try tightening them with a torque wrench. Or if you need a new water pump it costs around 150 dollars after market. Not that bad, DO NOT GO TO CADILLAC DEALER to have them put in the water pump. They will charge you three times the amount it would cost.
I swear this guy is talking about my 94 STS The SAME EXACT ISSUES went wrong with mine in the SAME EXACT sequence... weird couldn't agree more with this guys comments.
