Not too much. I bought it as a replacement for my crashed Monza, so there was a class difference. But quality was OK.
Some rust here and there.
Engine sounded like it ran on the wrong petrol (spark plugs were too long when I bought it!), but on motorways, this Manta ran 15 kilometres on a liter!
Some ignition problems, a small repair. A bigger repair was needed when the oil pressure was gone due to a disappeared screw in the head. But a garage service, then it was perfect.
Clutch made shreaking sounds when warm.
A Manta is/was fun! On a winter day, choose an abandoned square covered with snow and start playing! Choose curves for speeding, feel its tail 'come out'.
Nice Recaros, good handling, nice (but long) gears.
I really loved this thing! They don't make them anymore; a no-nonsense semi-sportscar with simple techniques and good looks for small money!
If it was easy to get a good one now, I really would consider it. Just for the fun of the drive! But that Opel rust...
I owned a Manta GTE a few years ago. I found it to be too long and too underpowered. I wish I still had it, though.
I'm looking for another one now.
