What have I done sold my beautiful 86 Toyota Crown for this over priced junk heap. Only thing I love about my XR6T is the looks and the comfort it's a shame as well because it really has potential.
Ford pick up your act NOW or you will lose a lot of customers for shoddy built cars.
Dude I feel for you you're not the only one with a problematic BA. I was going to upgrade my EL Fairmont wagon for a new BA XR6 turbo with the luxury pack, but I know a few of my friends owning BA's and they are having quality problems with theirs. As nice as they look there is no way I would put my hard earned on one.
As above don't part with the money, Fords back up service is zero!
DUDE, it is a MK 1. Always expect problems from the 1st model made. Always go/wait for the Mk 2 or series 2. All crappy problems are refined and fixed.
Have a nice day.
Bollocks
Ford just don't make quality built cars.
Mark 1 or 2 etc etc I am so god damn sick of people making excuses for them building shoddy cars.
Ford can get stuffed all I care!
Right blokes and miss'.
I have a mk1 xr6 turbo and I have only had 1 problem and that was my fault, they are fords, not supercars. I took my XR6t round an 80km/h corner at 160 and still goin the throttle, all I can say is atleast they are better than those damn AU's.
The car is poorly put together, it looks great and the performance and comfort are fine. The mechanical, body and electrical problems are unforgivable and I for one will not ever buy another. I have had over 11 problems with my BA XR6T since I bought it brand new in 2003. Although the warranty covers them the pain of going to the garage is not worth it and the attitute of the dealers on the most part is very poor.
Cut the Mark 1 bull crap. Ford have been building cars for yonks and still can't get it right, when manufacturers such as Toyota and to a lesser extent Mitsubishi have been building quality cars in Australia for decades.
No excuses.
Yeah look at Mitsubishi australia now they can't even sell their cars.
What is the better car the xr8 or the xr6t auto's and manual and what sort of fuel economy can I expect from both.
To the comment of 21 April 2006. The reason Mitsu don't sell many cars in Australia (but that is slowly changing) is because of narrowed minded Aussies and fleet operators.
My 2003 XR6 turbo has spent more time at Ford than in my garage. We complained when we bought it that the diff was making a knocking noise, and they told us it was normal. Now just yesterday, while driving my kids to school, I had this loud bang under the car. Now it sounds like metal to metal is grinding together. I'm no mechanic, but it sounds like I've blown my diff. Any feedback would help.
