1990 Lincoln Mark VII from North America - Comments

"Very disapointed"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Alternator is bad.

Air shocks don't work well.

Transmission does not work well, does not shift properly.

General comments?

The cars engine seems to run well, it's a smooth ride and handles nicely, but because of the way the transmission acts and how often it needs repair, the car is not worth buying.

You have a 15 year old car. So it needs a new transmission. Maybe a tune up is in order. Mark V11's are beautiful cars, even today. Therefore, if I were you, I would reserve my next tax refund for that very purpose.

I also have a 1990 mark VII had it 5 years now and so far only had to replace 2 front air bags other than that it's a clean fast good handling car just keep up on maintainace and you have no problems.

I have a lincoln mark v11 bill blass edition with a rag top. this auto is the best of the best. it is a 1990. a real drivers car. fantastic premium sound system. tony the tiger motor. rear wheel traction. I have owned cadillacs and the cadillac allante. hands down this 1990 lincoln mark v11 wins. I do not understand lincoln automakers for not bringing this car back to compete in todays marketplace. 5 more years and my honey will be a classic. best machine, gas wise, looks wise, comfort wise, an all around excellent auto.

I too love my Bill Blass rag top mark v11 Lincoln. My car before this was a Cadillac, and I also owned an Allante.

By far this year mark v11 surpasses the Allante, and any of the new cars on the road. Soft, tough, fully equipped, good on gas, comfortable for the tall driver, a mean machine.

Anyone who loves this auto as much as I do, please share where to get replacement parts such as temp/compass and rubber window trims.

This car will be a classic before you know it, and worth whatever TLC it needs.

I found a one owner LSC in a farmer's barn and just had to have it. Airbags are a problem, but can be converted at a reasonable price and that fixes that problem for good. Car is exceptionally comfortable and a pleasure to drive. Body style is a classic. No matter how dirty or driven still looks good. All of the problems with the suspension and window motors are easy fixes and with a little TLC this car will last for a long time. Really enjoy my classic. Have had no problems with any electrical parts, and all the interior lights and gadgets work like new. When I started looking for mine, there were only 10 available on-line for sale in the entire USA. These cars are rare, hard to find and will definitely appreciate in value. Find that the big 5.0 preforms better on Plus or Premium than on regular Unleaded. Seems to have more pep and pickup. Lincoln and Ford has been known for several years to have problems with their windows and airbags so anybody that knows their cars knows to expect this. I definitely will buy another to have a pair to restore. Best investment I have made in a long time.

Lincoln Mark owners - if you are having problems with your Transmission (improperly shifting) then check that a bushing (made using plastic) in the engine compartment, on linkage that connects the throttle to the tranny is not worn or sloppy. I had the problem and replaced it with a brass bushing. No problems since.

If you wait, you'll burn-out the tranny.
