Absolutely nothing!
This is one serious truck! It is by far the most powerful 1500 regular production full size pickup on the market!! (minus SVT Lightening and Ram SRT-10 of course). During my first test drive, I became aware that the Endurance V-8 is noticeably more powerful than the Hemi V-8 in the Dodge Ram.
The truck has never failed me yet and gets decent gas mileage considering it is a full size truck.
The interior is immense and provides more than enough room for four. I drove every 1500 on the market and the name Titan speaks for itself. I couldn't resist waiting for the 2006 interior upgrade and facelift! Makes my old Tundra look like a wimp!
Hard to believe it is "noticeably" more powerful than the 345hp Hemi powered Dodge Ram. The Titan is definitely not the most powerful V-8 powered, 1500 series pickup out there.
Correct about the Hemi Ram having more horsepower, however, the big difference is in the gearing of the transmission. Both have five-speed automatics, but the Titan is geared to give you more low end power.
I just read this thread and had to offer my two cents. The torque ratings between the Ram Hemi 5.7 and the Nissan 5.6 seem pretty similar at 375 and 379 pounds-feet respectively, so it seems unlikely that you would notice a big difference in power between the two, just my opinion. I will admit I have not driven a Titan, but would love the chance to. I have driven a Hemi Ram and the motor is VERY powerful. The Titan is definitely a sound player in the 1500 series truck market, but what I personally like about the American offerings is the amount of choice one has in motors, trim lines, axle ratios, etc.
Nicely built truck. Always turns heads! Say, does anyone know the western song on the new Nissan Titan commercial where the truck is pulling the trailers and equipment. I think it was the themesong to a western show?
BTW, I've been told that Nissan might come out with a Diesel Titan! Wouldn't that be something!
The Titan is noticeably quicker off the line and through the quarter than the Hemi Ram. I actually traded my Dodge for the Nissan! The power difference comes into play by the torque difference and the gearing being similar to that of a four speed automatic. It allows for the Titan to draw every bit of its torque as needed. Furthermore, you get 100-200 lbs increase in towing capacity out of the Titan. I also appreciate the fact that my truck isn't built by the Germans or the UAW that continue to cripple Detroit, but rather by my fellow southerners!
As for the future of the Titan, the diesel engine is definitely on its way and I do believe that Nissan has a single cab variant powered by the Frontier V-6 as an entry level to the current Titan. Heavy duty models are expected with the diesel.
We bought a 2006 Titan and we have a family of 5. We also have a mini van, but we choose to drive the Truck whenever we are all together. We love it. We have not had any brake issues and no other mechanical issues. When I have to drive it, I always feel like I am 'pushing' the truck instead of driving it because it has so much power. The gas mileage is not bad for such a large vehicle. We would definitely recommend it to anyone out there, even families.
Woohoo! I’ve had this truck for 3 weeks now and I’m still excited about it! I drove a Chevy, Ford and Dodge in 4x4 trim with their biggest motors and I was more impressed with the Nissan. I tried to look at the Tundra, but the dealerships both had low stock. I bought a 2007 LE 4x4 Crew Cab and my family of 4 uses it as often as we use our “bigger” SUV. I’ve owned several trucks over the years and this one beats them all.

This truck is definitely not short on power unfortunately the drive train does not support it very well. I have 75k on my 2004 which has had the rear differential fail at both 20k and again at 54k.
Now at 74k the front differential has failed.
Nice truck, but disappointed in reliability for sure.

A note on the differentials...
The diffs that the Titan uses are DANA parts. I feel as if they had researched and built their own parts it wouldn't be an issue.
Also Nissan has done an outstanding job eliminating the brake issues and will bend over backwards to take care of the 04-05 models that require the upgrade. Unlike TOYota, the beds are made of better material than soda can metal.
