2000 Ford Taurus SE from North America - Comments

"Poorly made American car that doesn't keep retail value at all and I see why!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Rear axle on back of vehicle is broken.

The shocks and struts are not soft, extremely firm and outrageous!

Transmission started turning sour at 58,000 miles.

The transmission started shifting rough only when going from R to D or to Park.

Rotors warped at 45,000 miles.

Back seat to small and shaped like a C, so it is hard to sit three people in the back since seats are not designed to be flat, but curve instead.

General comments?

It looks like ford rushed this car into production.

Seats are uncomfortable and feel very generic.

Automatic transmission AX4S is sluggish, not adaptive, hard shifting, and overall outdated. I don't see how this transmission would make it to 150,000.

For a good alternative vehicle, check out the dodge intrepid, chevy impala, or Nissan Maxima. Any of these cars will be a vast improvement than this ford.

FORD always has a better idea--- so they think. How 'bout the trans in the 500---belt driven similar to a snow mobile. FORD hasn't publicized it at all and sales are so bad that they're redesigning after one year of production. Needless to say, but no more FORDS for me. I presently have a 2000 rusted out TARAUS with 29,000 miles--- worth NOTHING!!! HONDA or TOYOTA next time---the trucks are "HOT".

Obviously, the person who made the last comment has never owned a Taurus... rusted out at 29,000 miles and a 2000 model...you've got to be kidding.

I have a 99 model that still looks like new.

Ford Five Hundred do not use a belt driven CVT it is a chain driven CVT making it stronger and more reliable.

Well, just in case anyone does not believe the Ford Rusting Badly stuff, I DO own a rusted to crap 2000 Ford Taurus. I also am not the only one, I am sure. It is worth nothing, although I am still paying for it, at the bank AND the repair shop. No one even wants it in trade. I shall buy Toyota, BMW or Honda from now on. I am sick of Detroit Garbage.

I've also had nothing, but bad times with my 2000 Ford, its like every six months it needs new work. I've had to replace the front CV joints three times in four years and I dive 10,000 miles a year. Over the left rear tire its rusting bad. I know why Detroit is going under, they can't make a product that's worth anything. I only keep it because its paid off, next time I'm going with Honda. FORD- Fix Or Repair Daily!!
