None.
I should mention that the car is an accurate replica of the few ever built.
An original probably would cost about half a million €.
The original car was a mid engine 1500cc boxer that put out 148hp at 8000 rpm.
The chassis was tubular and the body aluminum.
At the time (1958/1964) some Austrian replicas were used in competition, but with a 1600cc engine that some say was capable of 160hp.
Mine is a blueprint replica of the original chassis, but it mounts a Volkswagen 2 liter boxer engine with a turbo that puts out about 130 hp.
It has an adapted 4 speed short shift gearbox that came from an early Golf.
Its low weight (about 700Kg) and real wheel drive make it one of the most fun cars I have ever driven.
It handles like a kart and it slides with much precision, even during high speed cornering.
The downside is that at the track, and I believe because of the grip, the chassis and tires bend too much and sometimes it becomes a bit unpredictable, especially if you brake late and enter a turn unbalanced.
All and all an amazing machine, bought with about 20.000 €, that makes faces turn on the street.
A shame it is not the real thing. On the other end, would I have the courage to do with a 500.000 € specimen, what I do with this one?
Nice review. Is there an official place to order a 718 replica? How did you find yours?
Just search the web for manufacturers, you will find plenty.
I bought mine already in Portugal, but I know it was made in Germany, but really do not know the name of the manufacturer.
Hi there.
I have mine for sale, it s in Portugal and is actually upgrading the engine to a SCAT 1776ccm engine with (I hope) about 115hp. The car is stunning and weights just 450kgs.
