"A high performance speedster"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Not much, mostly oil leaks.

General comments?

Really good car, you feel tough when driving it, if you have the money, buy it. Only problem is you can't drive that fast in Canada.

I think the Lamborghini Countach is the most incredible looking car designed to date. I hope one day to proudly own one myself.

Any real Lambo owner would be proud of their vehicle.

8/10 for performance!? Let me tell you something; the Countach was entered in the Guiness Book of records for the most horsepower output from a production car in the 80s!!! Try 11/10 for performance!!!

The Countach was brought out in the mid 70's, at that time the Escort van was considered radical and the only vents you had were in your jackets, just imagine what people thought when they saw this parked in your driveway in 1974!!

Amazing at the time. The HP dyno rating was great, but it ran to 60 in only 5 seconds (89 25th anniversary model). Today, a 320 hp Carrera coupe beats that, and it got no record.

In relation to the comment about a Porsche above:

Quite simply- nonsense! I own both these cars and the Porsche is not in the same league. The performance figures to 60 are irrelevant. If you were to drop the clutch, rather than pull off gently in the Lambo, the results would be in the 3.9 0r 4.0's- trust me. Thereafter it would literally disappear. The Porsche weighs 1500kg and has 320bhp - the Lambo weighs 1450kg and has between 455 and 500bhp (depending on the particular car) - do the maths!

You're right man. You can't drive fast in Canada, well you can, but with the pot holes and the cops it's not a great idea.

I got tired of being stopped and fined for speeding in Canada so I went to live in Germany.

When the Autobahns are not blocked with traffic jams you can sometimes go really fast. I get up to 160mph in my BMW850. But apart from being legally able to drive fast on some roads, Canada is better in just about every other way.

Why not just come to Australia. I speed all the time and have never been fined. I hardly ever see police. In Perth, Australia there are 4,000 police in the whole state. In most American cities there are more police than that in the CBD!

What about speed cameras and radar traps? They are everywhere in Sydney. Surely Perth isn`t that far behind the times - or is it? Anyhow, excessive speeding on public streets is really quite dumb - it threatens other people`s safety and welfare. Or is that unimportant?

The Lamborghini Countach is the most fantastic car in the world, not even the newer Lamborghinis can match it.

Just look at it...

I have a sneaking suspicion that most (and probably all) of these "reviews" were written by people who have maybe seen these cars, but certainly do not own one. Ask yourself, why would a person who just dropped 200K on a car sit down on this site to write a 65 word review? I'm sorry, but most of these just sound lame. All these drivers report "absolutely no problems whatsoever," and that their car is "godlike." Gimme a break. I especially love the "I own both of these cars." Nice touch, but a pretty blatant lie.

I drove a BMW in the early 90's (a 7-series) and every 1000 miles something would need fine tuning. Now, the 7's are nice cars, but they need attention. A friend of mine bought a "used" Esprit for cheap and was astonished when he found out the cost of replacing the engine would be in 25K range. He, luckily, got rid of it fast.

These reviews just sound like kids dreaming. And let them, but don't pretend these are real.

Hey now, I have 200K miles on my Esprit and have only had to change the oil twice!

Matchbox cars don't count.

It is impossible for any existing (actually older in the case of the Esprit) engine to go 100K between oil changes.

I hate the smell of crap, and I hate reading crap, so why would you lie about owning the Esprit? Oil change twice? Please, Oil change at least every 3,000 miles. then maybe "your" car could see 200,000 miles. Let me guess never changed spark plugs, or tires, or c.v. joints, or any other wear or maintenance item?
