"FUN FUN FUN and Laughing when I gass up"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Bought it from a friend for 200.00.

Battery dead (60.00) cheaper if I had more time to shop. Wanted to get it running.

Starter dead (138.00 included the relay/solenoid) Could've bid online for 65 + 15 shipping.

Tires shot (100.00) from Walmart.

Antenna broken (16 + shipping online)

Radio knob (3.00)

Stalls at the lights with the A/C on and outside temps at 100 +. (No suprise there).

General comments?

First this car is fun. Glorified go cart with A/C.

Came with 4 snow tires in the back, one baby seat, and 2.50 in change scattered around the interior, knockin down my cost.

Paint is good, interior is great. No busted or worn out plastic pieces.

I'm 6-2 and have good leg room in it.

About 500.00 outlay to have a very nice commuter.

I have had it 2 days and have had 3 offers to buy it at 1,000.00 plus. Fully intend on doing that when I bought. Just fix the thing up and make a quicky profit.

I am NOT gonna sell this thing. I am having way too much fun. If you want to trade your 63 split window Corvette, well I'll talk to you.

If you can find one, and don't have a car ego, jump on this. Easy to dress up and still has very decent look.

Pass one up and regret it. Test one out if you need a commuter and grocery getter. You can't beat the price or the satisfaction when you fill up and go for miles of FUN.

Have fun man. Best car you can get for 5 hundred dollars.

I have a 93 auto too, I am getting 41 MPG's with conservative driving. Paid 2200, hatchback, clean replaced brakes and rotors. Post your mileage when you get a chance. FIGHT OPEC.

FUN??? Don't think so!= = Fun would be driving a muscle car from the late 60's with nearly 400Hp from a big block- - not these tiny little econoboxes that we are forced financially to drive nowdays! You guys must be young if you think those Geos are "fun"??? Man you need to broaden your experiences! I am not putting you down mind you, because I drive one of those gutless little cars myself, but am old enough to remember when I could afford to drive a REAL CAR God, I miss those days!!!

Well those days are back at your nearest Dodge & Chrysler dealer!

Gasoline is approaching $3. a gallon in the U.S. and they come out with 400+ horsepower muscle cars! What great timing!

So to the guy who misses the 60s Muscle Cars, mortgage the house for a few tanks of gas & enjoy!

Tires were 124 for 4. No name walmart specials. Yes it's still a blast. Stats again.. The car cost 200.00... I threw 300.00 at it to make it roadable. HMMMM 500.00 for a low slung gas sipper is now my kinda fun. I am 42 not a youngster. I have driven a Lexus SC400 which is one helluva fine car.. but would've cost me 10k off the lot (1 on internet for 4900.00. Sooooooooo I bougnt this car for 200 and it sips gas.. feels like a go cart w ac and a windshield. Yes I am having fun. Way back when I had a 72 350 Nova.. burned tires and ate gas. I am older now and respect my pocket book more. Its not a Camarao, Mustang, Lambo or Vette. SO WHAT. It is fun, and I pay nothing in insurance or gas... My kinda fun noe. The kids might actually make it to College on my dime.

Geo Metros are the cats A**

We all still have our gas guzzler muscle cars, but we enjoy laughing at the gas pumps filling for 15 dollars, then driving 400 miles on that fillup. My metro runs all day at 65-75 mph, and never misses a beat.

I feel sorry for you that you drive a little Geo metro. Those do not hold up well at all in an accident and crumble like a VW bug. Usually when I'm at the pump and I see them (Geo metros), I'm usually the guy laughing at your car. I know my friend was hit by a Geo metro who blew a red light going 35mph and they had to use the jaws of life to get the guy out (was unconscious with serious injuries). My friend's 88 grand marquis was fine, just the bumper and the rear quarter panel was dented. Not to mention you are missing out on a lot of other great cars out that happen to be "econo-boxes" if your really into that.

I own a 93 eagle talon dl which happens to get 35-40 mpg consistently with constant hard driving. Plus its sporty, a lot faster than your pos metro, handles better (I autocross this car), is extremely reliable, and I only paid $1200 for it with 77k. I also drive an 87 Mercury Grand Marquis LS 2door since I liked the safety and comfort of my friend's 88. I know I don't own muscle cars (not yet at least), but I own both of these as a poor college student for under 2k. There are so many other cars out there that put to shame the metro, and will make you happer in the long run.

By the way, if I can recall from recent studies, you are only saving a little bit of money by owning a fuel efficient car. Gasoline would have to cost $4.00 and up in order for you to really "reap the benefits" of fuel efficieny. Besides your metro is outdated and low quality compared to civics and hybrids that get even better gas mileage than your car. Just be careful with your metro though, I would want your metro to get stuck in the grill on my 87 Mercury Grand Marquis LS.

Does this guy have to mention his damn 87 Mercury Grand Marquis 2-door in EVERY COMMENT HE PUTS IN HERE?

Well I have to say my 93 Dodge Stealth 3.0L V6 twin turbo conversion will rape either of your cars and be hungry for more Mr.Grand Marquis. HOWEVER, I have to say I absolutely LOVE little golf-cart zippy cars almost as much as my stealth. Will probably be getting a 93 here soon which I just have to replace the clutch and it's gold. And you know what? just for giggles I'm going to custom that thing until it too will devastate your wimpy marquis. hurray for testosterone contests! (dunce)

I apologize, I do mention that car too much and I am sorry for being offensive on this site. Going from a small car to something a lot bigger with more horsepower, lots of steel, a excellent soft ride, and real chrome went to my head. Sometimes I guess I forget that I used to be the guy who enjoyed small, fuel-effecient cars too.

My friend and I had a scary experience with a 93 metro that hit his 88 Grand Marquis, and I was just trying to warn people that those cars are not as safe as they think. I had to try to keep a 35 year old woman alive until help with the "jaws of life" arrived to get her out after a 35-40 mph crash. It was a scary experience, but its not my place to judge the safety of a car I do not own. It could have been a number of factors to cause that kind of damage, plus sometimes it doesn't matter what you were driving either.

I know your stealth would blow the doors off of the 93 DL and the Merc, and I respect that. I have always been a big fan of the Stealth/3000 GT lineup, and I have driven a Twin Turbo VR4, which was "ungodly" fast and worked too.

I didn't mention though that I own a 1996 Eagle Talon TSI AWD with a big 16g turbo, a huge intercooler, a worked 1st gen 6 bolt, and some other goodies to let it run 12s at the track. It might put up a good fight with your stealth, but I might be better off keeping the dignity my car has and just "shake your hand". Take care of your stealth though, just take it easy on us "dsm" guys.

I bought a 1993 Blue Geo Metro and I got my life back. I had a vampire gas sucking Jeep Cherokee that sucked my soul. Thank God for my Geo Metro, I'm 6' tall and I get the last laugh at the gas pumps. Happy in Toronto, Canada.

I have a Metro and I use it commute to work. The gas mileage is excellent. I must admit that I am scared to get into an accident with it though. Sometimes I feel that the $ savings are not worth it. What good is the savings when you're not around to enjoy it? I certainly wouldn't win any head-on-head battles, that's for sure. No one owns one of these cars for the "coolness" of it so that's a silly argument. It's certainly economical and easy to fix.

I have a Dodge RAM 1500 Hemi and that get's about 14 mpg compared to the 40+ on the Metro. Even though it costs me more to drive, I'm thinking of giving up the Metro because I believe that today's drivers are a lot more distracted than ever before and I'm not risking my life for that.

I just bought a Geo Metro for $500. It needs some cleaning up to do, but I had no choice to buy it. I needed something to call my own because whenever I did something wrong my dad took MY car away. I was paying for it, but its in his name. I couldn't get a loan because I have no credit (I'm only 18) and my dads credit sucks, so I can't get a co-signer. I LOVE my 2005 Honda Civic LX and the Geo is such a step down. But I will use this Geo to help me learn a stick shift, to and from work, and then sell it when I'm done. I was the one who was AGAINST these cars, but now its like "whatever" it's a car. Okay, not a luxury car, but Its not that bad.

Later,

Josh.
