"Daily driver in daylight, street machine at night"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Since acquisition of the previous owner at 60,000 miles very little has gone wrong. this owner did read up on problems that would happen if maintenance was not taken care of, and common problems, thus he took care of them before they erupted into full problems.

Change of Timing chain, water pump, and timing guides at 55,000 miles.

Capacitors replaced before leakage occurred- 75,000 miles.

Timing belt, water pump, and all else replaced again at 107,000.

Rear hydraulics have gone out on lift back- 119,000 miles.

New battery 119,000 miles.

General comments?

This was a really sweet deal to come across. I was fourtunate enough to find a older man who took immaculate care of his vehicles. at 100,000 miles an oil change was never missed, or a timing belt change for that matter. With a high flow fuel pump, after market external waste-gate, boost controller, and 3" exhaust from my turbo back I have few competitors on the road. I was astounded when my stock turbo was putting out 15 PSI, far exceeding the 7-10 stock PSI. Whether it be alpine driving or flat out drag I have beat 2003 Audi A4's, and just about anything Honda (although there are some CRX's out there that have my number), even other elclipse's/ Talons have difficulty at times. DSM's finest are displayed in this stock turbo beast. Although the back seat holds little else than some work supplies, what does a 18 year old motor head need a back seat for? I would greatly appreciate any helpful comments anyone could make to make this 13.4 second car a little faster. i had an idea for a new EVO head unit installation (they are the same motor), am I off the wall or is this possible with beneficial effects?

My advice to you is to grow up!

You don't need more speed, you need some commonsense.

I put a EVO MAF sensor from Japan on my car and install the APEXI Sfac 2 kit. It is a grerat set up. You should also look into getting an intercooler for the car. Would do you wonders.

If your interested in tuning your car you may want to check out DSMtuners.com. You will find more than enough information on your car and how to tune it. These cars are already running 8 second 1/4 miles. Also the EVO motor is a reversed 4g63 and will not go in your car without fabrication. The 4g63 in your car will handle 400hp before you have to change the stock internals. Have fun and hope to see you at dsmtuners!

Of all the choices I had for a "new" car the '93 AWD TSI was #1. I bought it at 92K miles had little problems with it then replaced the timing belt at 97K and it never ran properly again. In May of '05 the timing belt shredded on the camshaft at a whopping 114K miles and has since sat for over a year while I sort out the cost of repairs needed to get it running again against future costs as it ages. It's a great car for the price. When it comes to just about anything in life you only get out of it what you put into it. How can I expect a car worth around $2,500 to perform like a car worth $25,000?
