Absolutely nothing.
"Ranger-ous" is by far the best truck I have ever owned. The 4.0 liter with the 5 speed manual and a 4:10 limited slip rear end is off the chart powerful. I'm averaging 21 mph, and mostly with the a/c on.
The 4wd is just a flip of a switch on the dash. How easy is that!
A very comfortable, smooth and enjoyable ride.
Mine (which I have named Ranger-ous) is the extra cab with doors that open, which is essential. Don't consider the non opening extra cab. Impossible to put anything back there.
The Ford stock stereo with Cd is awesome! Power everything, except for seats, which I'm not sure if its even available.
The front end styling from 2001 to 2004 I feel is the best. The black paint kept clean and waxed shines like a new wet paint job.
Overall, a 9.5 out of 10. Beats to death any GM or Dodge or foreign make hands down.

I have a 2003 Ranger XLT 4.0l 5 speed 4wd with the 4.10 Limited Slip diffs, and I got about 16mpg highway (70-85mph average) I put on a flowmaster 40 series, moved up to 19 mpg, then put 32" tires on it and went down to 16 mpg again.
But the truck is AWESOME! I love it.
I have only owned my 2003 Ford Ranger XLT FX4 for a short amount of time, I just love it. I owned a Dodge Ram 1500 and this truck is a much better ride.
