"Quick for 1360cc's"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Within 4 and a half months, (17,000 miles):

Driveshafts x 2, then the Nearside one snapped - replaced under warranty.

Alternator.

Differential (new gearbox), now diff slips again.

Front wheel bearings.

A couple of small other things. This altogether so far is £1500.

The red paintwork is disintegrating.

General comments?

Very quick when it wants to go, keeps up with 306 1.8 16v's, BMW 318i's, 3 205 1.6 GTi's. etc, but has cost me a lot of money. Good handling, fun in wet.

About the driveshaft on the 205:

Change the rubber and put on new grease inside every 100,000 km! Then you will need to buy any new driveshafts for the rest of our life!

I've had my GT for 2years and it is very nippy. No problems in the first year however, last year it has had to have:

2 new drive shafts.

Starter motor.

Water pump.

Timing belt.

Wheel bearings.

And it still needs a new exhaust!!! I still think it is a great car though, which looks sporty and has not dated.

I've got a GT that has now done 120,000 miles and is still going strong! A few small problems in the last 2 and a half years:

Central locking failed on rear offside door.

Wheel bearing and drive-shaft replaced.

New clutch and exhaust.

Apart from that, and the usual replacements, it is an excellent car for its mileage.

The handling is excellent, and I'm always surprised how powerful the 1.4 engine is - it beats a lot of bigger engined cars off the lights, and continues accelerating even in fifth gear going uphill - I've beaten a 1.6 Mazda MX5 doing this!

All in all an excellent little car, and surprisingly low insurance considering how nippy it is.

Just wondering is there such a thing as a peugeot 205 gt, or is that the ax gt cause the peugeot has a 1.6 gti and many other ranges, but I'm sure the 1.4 gt as you call it is actually an XS. correct me if I'm wrong. if so what is this GT like?
