From New, On a sweeping bend would suddenly find extra traction and over-steer, then just when you have corrected that it would loose traction and under-steer. 4 wheel drive had a mind of it's own, deciding to come on and off of it's own accord.
Took Hyundai 8 months to diagnose the problem. Faulty Diff, Remedy, New Diff fitted.
4 months old, Horn (not the alarm siren) going off all on it's own when the vehicle is locked and empty. Had to disconnect the 2 horns in the engine bay. Turns out loose wire in steering wheel centre.
From New, Car locks and alarms itself as soon as the ignition is switched off, still doing it 1 year on.
From New, Wipers aren’t parking on the windscreen properly, intermittent fault. New stalk and wiper motor have not fixed the problem, still doing it 1 year on.
Directional Indicator‘s self canceling mechanism is turning the indicators off too early, sometimes before the turn is even commenced. It is also leaving them on when the turn has been completed, New Indicator Stalk and guess what, it's still doing it 1 year on.
Specify Leather Upholstery and it's an aftermarket fit by Hyundai UK.
Drivers Seat was not bolted back in properly on delivery, ie: 1 bolt (which was loose) was securing it to the floor! Fixed.
8000 miles, intermittent miss in the common rail turbo diesel, especially noticeable on Motorway, Dealer can't find the fault, it's still doing it 1 year on.
Reversing Sensors also an after-market fit by Hyundai UK. 1 year on it's seeing ghosts, indicating a hazard to the rear when reversing, only to find there is nothing there!
12000 miles, suddenly handling all over the place, burst rear shock absorber, no potholes, no off-road useexcept the snooker table grass border on the local football field, (not even a mole hill). New shock fitted.
Car was bought to tow a 1500kg caravan, this it does no problem, in between repairs.
What I didn't realize, was I'd be getting to visit the dealer once or twice a month, every month.
Had an 04 130bhp tdci Mondeo zetec s, not 1 fault Jan - Sept04 when I made the horrendus mistake of trading to a Hyundai Terracan.
Very informitave review
hyundai reallly should have been able
to sort all the problems out
don't blame you for getting rid.
I wonder why you bough a 4x4 in the first place
if you had and 2wd mondeo and are going for another
2 wd mondeo.
Anyway you might want to look at the award winning diesel
in the honda accord - a much more superior product.
Beware The Honda Accord where I work we have 5 on the fleet they eat tyres like theres no tomorrow the strange thing is the appetite for rear tyres is just as bad as the front. The drivers have had no joy from Honda. So be warned all that glitters etc I am enjoying my Terracan!.
