On a cleanly paved highway, it's a pleasant experience driving a this car. But once you hit a un asphalted concrete road, the car dribbles itself according to the shape of the small road crevices and rough concrete surfaces. The motion created between the tires and the road are transformed into vibrations that one can easily feel inside. This is not a big deal considering it's price. A driver can live with that especially on short distance travel.
With a 1.1Li engine, one expects a good km/liter fuel consumption rate.
This car can only do 11.5++ km/liter on the same route I've been driving my Honda Civic Sir where I'm getting 11.0km/Li consistently.
Maybe that you have only a 1.1L engine that you have to rev its guts out to get any performance out of it hence you are using more fuel.
It sounds like you picked the wrong vehicle if all you were looking for was economy. No joke, but my Dad's 91' Jeep Wagoneer gets better gas mileage than that (11 town, 13 Hwy.) and it weighs 5,700 pounds and has a 5.9 liter V8 engine. If you want economy you should look at a Honda Civic or a Toyota Camry or something, maybe even a hybrid?

Yes, 11.5km/liter. This is high compared with Japanese models of similar/slightly bigger engine displacement. At first, I thought of getting 2 units of this for my daily and my wife's daily use. Of course the 2nd unit has to come after disposing a 4 year old Japanese car she's driving. Because of this high fuel consumption performance, the planned 2nd unit has to step aside.
How come I can get 12 to 14 km/L at 90 to 120Kph.
This latest 1.1 litre version of the Getz is meant for the seriously tight budgeted folks out there... namely the students who want to commute from school and back and the occasional night out to the clubz.
That said, it was never meant to be in the same league as the 1.3L or 1.6L in terms of refinement or performance.
Thus, considering the bulk of the car, the 1.1L is expected to be less fuel efficient to haul around at similar velocities than as compared to the ones with the bigger engine capacities.
The smallest engine is a strict A-B, moderate speed gem.
Want an cheap economical car with good performance and a small engine? Go for the Perodua Kelisa. Period.
I am about to buy Hyundai Getz, but 1.3L. Is the fuel consumption the same? Definitely 11km/li for a 1.1L engine is not good enough. How about the 1.3L?
I'm interested to buy a Getz, but I don't have any idea as regards the price range. I want to have a general idea before I contact a sales rep. How much was it in 2004 and how much is it now?
Is there any explanation why the fuel consumption of the 1.3L is that bad? I am also interested in buying the 1.3L, but with this km/li review, I am now having a second thought.
Getz with 1.3L engine is around PHP 470,000. I have no idea if they have common prices in all their outlets.
Usually cars with small displacement in order to perform like a big brother has to have a little bit more rpm to cruise at a particular speed. Hence the higher consumption.
Okay. I understand that. But compare to 1.3L of Honda and Toyota, say City and Vios, why is the consumption of Hyundai Getz too low? Is the body of Getz heavier than the two other brands?
The Pi canto 1.1L can go 26km/l at a constant speed of 60 km according to their brochure. Can the Gets do likewise? I'm thinking of getting a Gets, but after reading some of the negative comments about its fuel consumption I'm beginning to have some second thoughts.
