Replaced the front brakes and rotors at a cost of $425.00. Changed the front passenger headlight, had a big crack on the lens. $225.00 Other than that the car is running very smoodly.
I thought that my 1993 oldsmobile 88 ran good, but when I bought this 1997 seville sls, all that changed. I live in Chicago and as soon as I bought my car I took it for a very long road trip to Boston and I cannot tell you how much fun I had driving this car.
It has very fast acceleration and you could barely hear any outside noise when the windows were rolled up. I had to keep checking odometer to make sure I wasn't going way over the speed limit because I would be going 80 miles per hour and didn't even know it. the car was so smooth and comfortable. I had 2 of my cousins with me and they just loved it.
Thank you Cadillac for making such a fun car to drive. I cannot wait to own a newer Cadillac.
I know there are people on here that have had problem with their cars, but like anything you purchase in life, there is always bad one's in the bunch.
I feel the exact same way you do. My 97 SLS has had some of the problems described in this forum. However, I'm still in love with it. I have driven approximately 13,000 miles in a year or so, and I can't wait to drive it on the weekends!
My 1997 Cadillac Seville SLS has a tendency to use oil. I've been told they are known for that, however everything else is just perfect.
The car is ergonomically correct, not real heavy, and delivers me 22-23 mpg using premium gasoline. with regular, a couple of miles less.
It is a low profile body that appears to reduce wind resistance through the aerodynamics of design.
At 113,000 miles, I replaced the front wheel bearings, giving me the solid firm ride that it had when I bought it.
The rear tail lights have a tendency to build up condensation, which builds up and dissipates regularly. That I don't favor at all, however it is nothing that is doing any harm to the tail light components, and is somewhat disturbing.
Beyond that, this is a very good automobile, and I want another Seville with a Northstar V8 for my next car.
