"A nice affordable SUV"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Well lets see, as I said in previous reviews I have replaced my waterpump and did my brakes. The rear wiper motor was also replaced, and the rear windo lock has frozen and I have yet to replace it. I had the transmission fluid replaced as well. Most recently I have replaced my thermostat and now I think my heater core is on the way out at 110k.New fuel filter to boot. Now I think my rear end has a seal that is leaking. I think it is called a rear drive shaft seal.

General comments?

I have to say that my Blazer has be very reliable. I have driven it from here in Mass to Georgia nad up to Maine with no problems.4X4 works AOK. The 4.3L Vortec has alotta power for a V6.I deffinitly would buy another one.

Lets see. I have owned by 96' Blazer since 2000. Everyone will have these problems for sure: MULTIPLE transmission rebuilds, radiator, alternator, water-pump, thermostat, A/C compressor replacement, stripped rear end. This is being driven by an adult with no hot rodding. To be fair, the blazer was dependable before hitting 80,000 miles, after that I have really struggled to get it to 130,000. I will definitely get a new vehicle this summer, and give the blazer to a family member. I wouldn't feel right about selling it to anyone, and neither should a dealer or a certain automobile company. I have always bought American, but will go to a import this time.

I bought my 1996 Blazer LS in November 1997. It had been leased by a doctor and had 21,000 miles on it. Since then it has been in 43 U.S. states (most of them multiple times) and four Canadian provinces. Mileage is now over 300,000 miles (over 480,000 kilometers).

I'm very happy with it and fully expect it to reach a million in my ownership. Original exhaust system! One solenoid lost in transmission, otherwise no transmission issues with shifts tight and strong. Original shocks may soon need replacement, but not a problem at present. Has pulled small and huge boats, moved many construction loads, and performed without issue.

Wheel bearings were replaced on schedule. I put a new water pump in ahead of any problems as a preventive measure. New thermostat soon. Still has lots of power and paint, fit and finish are like-new. Makes great roadtrip and tailgating vehicle, with room inside for two adults to sleep in back or in lowered front seats, depending on comfort requirements.

Very happy Blazer owner.
