"The greatest car ever made"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Transmission sliping into second gear.

A/C failed.

Back windows can't be rolled down from driver controls, but can be rolled up.

Power steering fluid leak.

One cylinder knocking excessivley.

Both cat-converters bad.

Over half of the dash controls don't work.

Hole in radiator.

Entire brake system going out.

Spark plugs replaced (previous owners fault, not company's)

General comments?

I was facinated by this car since the day I first learned about it and fell in love when I saw it. No matter what anyone of my friends said about it could change my views on this car. Sure they have a lot of problems and are expensive to maintain, but the feeling you get driving this car makes all those problems disapear.

Most of the problems with the car wern't because the car was unreliable, they were because the 2 preivious owners didn't take care of the car at all. In fact, they put spark plugs on that were made for the regular Taurus and then gapped them as far as they could go so it was sluggish to say the least.

After tunning the car up and fixing what the previous owners did wrong it was a smooth driving car. After my relentless hard accelerations out of turns it finally started dropping gears, and fairly quickly too.

The steering on the car was like spreading butter, so smooth and fine. I could park that car on a dime. She handled like a godess.

Even though the brake system was said to be going out the car braked fantastic. I once changed lanes went from 75 to 10 mph in about 70 feet and made a turn into a raised up parking lot flawlessly, unlike my friend behind me driving the Celica which was going 45 and slowed to 10 by screeching its tires and almost losing control. I think pretty impressive considering my car weighs about 4800 pounds and his weighs about 2700.

Those seats just suck you right in too. Bolstering sides and lumbar support. The back seats proved to be quite slick though and passengers tended to slide across them during turns.

Some people say it's an unreliable peice of crap, but considering it's a super high output car you should never expect it to be. Would you expect a Ferrari Enzo to last as long as a Honda, no. This car was meant to chew bubblegum and kick ass and it ran out of gum.

Sorry, I don't think you can go from 70 mph to 10 and make a turn in 70 feet. Mathematically its not really possible. But we all exaggerate and if a heavy car has the right suspension and steering, it will make some nice turns. ex: VW Jetta with stiff springs.

I beg to differ on best car. Impala SS's are worth a lot more and I think the Dodge Viper was pretty cool too.

Well I just bought a used l994 Ford Taurus in November 07, and it had been maintained really well by the previous owner (1). I bought the car from a reputable dealer, sure it had a gazillion miles on it. I test drove it at took it out on the highway and it handled pretty good at 110 kilometers per hour, which is about 66 or 67 mph

fast enough. but all I wanted it for was just to get around town.

The paint job and the body is in good shape for a l4 year old vehicle. This car has more bells and whistles on it than my previous car.

I've never owned a Ford before, my last car was a 2001 Chrysler Intrepid and it threw a rod at 74980 kilometers. Converting that to miles it's only 44,988 miles, and the warranty ran out in March 2006; isn't that a kick in the head. I maintained that car. There was no warning. This little Ford Taurus has out lasted a car that was only 6 years old. No wonder Daimler dumped Chrysler. If a l4 year old car can last longer than a 6 year old car, I'll put my money on Ford anytime.

I have a 1994 SHO. It has a 136,000 miles, and today I raced my buddy's 1990 Corvette, and it only has 47,000 miles. He got me off the line for the moment, but once I hit 20 mph I got ahead of him. He stayed on my bumper until I hit about 115 mph; then he was gone.

The Ford SHO is one of the best cars I have ever owned, and besides, what other stock family sedan can beat a V8 sports car?
