Nothing significant has gone wrong with the car.
The shade for the sunroof has come of the track.
The front brakes rotors have beome pitted long before the brake pads have worn out.
I LOVE THIS CAR! I have the 2.7 with the Autostick transmission, leather seats, etc. It is the first automatic I have ever owned, but I can't say enough about the tranny. In manual mode I can shift it quicker than I can a 5-speed, and I find I rarely drive it in automatic mode. The engine is smooth with decent power, though it could be torqueyer. The chassis is good, better than I expected, and the car is really fun to drive fast on twisty roads. Its not a sports car, not even a sports sedan really, but as a good, reliable everyday car that fun to take out and thrash on the weekends, it can't be beat.
I thought the R/T only came with a 3.0 V6, am I wrong?
The Sedan R/T Comes with a magnum version on the 2.7L. The coupe comes with the 3.0L. Both are rated a 200HP.
The 2 door RT coupe is built by Mitsubishi, which includes their 3.0 liter V6. The 4 door sedan, built in the USA, have the 2.7L magnum 200HP V6 engine. They also had a NPG - 5 speed manual transaxle. I have a 03 w/the 5spd. It's a blast to drive. Very spirited and great mileage.
The OEM front brake rotors, as all Chrysler built autos, have issues. When replacing go for a high grade aftermarket (USA made). The alloys used must meet SAE standards. Other offshore aftermart suppliers do not.
Good luck.
The 2002 R/T coupe (Mitsubishi-Illinois) is a great car. I got mine with the 5 speed stick which is really fun on long windy roads. It's fast. Handles great. It's a keeper..but, just like every car it has it's quirks (problems) The ones to expect are: bad connector on rv mirror, front brake rotors warp, door holds water, rear top 'lens' holes misaligned making for 2 cracks or light spots, bad motor mounts, all of these can be repaired. I think it's worth it. Fun car! Won't sell it for a long time.
