Nothing broke.
If you're considering an M3 because (like me) you thought you were getting a quicker 330ci - think carefully.
Totally different breed.
In town it's like a frisky horse - you have to constantly hold it back. When you want to move a little faster it just goes big-time - gets tiring keeping it behaving. On the track another story - it's a dream.
Let me expand.
- In city traffic it's a liability - not because it's quick, quite the opposite. Try making a prompt, but non-dramatic lane change around 50-60klm/hr. There's just no torque so you drop a cog and gas it a bit. Suddenly the car takes off like a rocket and everyone thinks you're being a boy racer!!
- I tried fiddling with all combinations of user-selectable performance settings on the computer, but to no avail. It was either a dog or a devil with no acceptable mid-point.
- You might expect a 'firm' ride and you'd not be let down there.
- Kept it for <1 year and sold it with no regrets.
I don't understand why you've spent such a vast amount of money on this car when it obviously doesn't suit you.
To the comment made by last person. You probably don't own an m3 don't criticise about the reviewer.
I don't think M3 is that fast and its so laggy so I agree totally with the reviewer. M3 is over priced, Slow, stiff, laggy, engines sounds like broken vacume cleaner. If you tell me you like the car for brand that's understandable.. for technology wise if you are a machanic you will see its just full of gymmick and gadgets.
Tim.
I HAVE JUST PURCHASED A 2005 M3 AND I GOT TO TELL YOU THAT THIS VEHICLE IS NOT MEANT FOR A REGULAR KIND OF PERSON THIS VEHICLE IS INDEED A BEAST ON THE ROAD MEANT FOR A PERSON WHO ENJOYS RISK, EMOTION AND HIGH SPEED DRIVING,BUT IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A COMFORTABLE REGAULAR KIND OF VEHICLE PERHAPS A REGULAR 320 WILL MAKE YOU VERY HAPPY, PERSONALLY I JUST CANNOT BELIEVE HOW WELL DESIGNED THE M3 IS, AND FOR THE FIRST TIME AFTER FLYING AIRPLANES FOR MORE THAN 20 YEARS MY HANDS STARTED TO SWEAT AND ADRENALINE BEGUN TO KICK THRU MY BODY. ONCE AGAIN...TRY DRIVING THE 2008 M3 is a real street F1.
I have owned an M3 for the last 3 years and still get excited every time I drive it
If you want a comfortable relaxing drive buy something else.
If you want something which ignites your heart every time you turn on the key, buy an M3.
Nothing comes close for the money
Get an SMG gear box which gives you the thrill of a manual with the convenience of an auto in rushour traffic.
I have thought about selling it a few times in order to free up some cash, but everytime I have removed it from sale as I can't bear to give it up!
My 2002 M3 has been nothing but grief. It is fast and fun, but at 50,000k it has had 3 engines. Now the rear end is going. $$$...$$$
Buy a porsche instead.
