"Cheap. reliable, end efficient"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

I havent had this car for long, but since I have had it, I only had to have a stereo put in. some problems I don’t like

1. The drivers door doesnt lock.

2. Windshield has a BIG crack in it.

3. The manifold is LOUD

4. The dashboard is all faded and funky looking.

5. My instrument panel lights stopped working.

6. Rear defrost doesnt work.

7. Rear wiper doesnt work anymore either.

When it was still my dads, he had to have the rear wheel bearing replaced. Breaks and normal maintenance. He had the engine rebuilt at like 145K or something like that. Other than that, there arent any major problems. Runs great and takes what is dealt to it.

General comments?

I have a blue 95 Metro LSi Hatchback. I got it off of my dad and I didnt really like it at first, I just needed a car. But as I drove it, it grew on me. Even though it only has a 3cyl, it is kind of quick. Not fast, but it gets me where I need to go. This may sound strange, but I get better gas mileage in the city than I do highway. Because the highways by my house are all flat and I cannot coast anywhere. Thats how I get the most out of my gas. I put it in neutral and coast down the long hills. I love the 5 speed. If this were an automatic, I think that I would not like it at all. Much less power that it already doesnt have. Other than the damage I described above, there is no real problem. It has a HOT heater, no air, good clutch, and Im a short guy so I dont have a problem with the space or anything. The only complaint I have with the car is power steering is not an option in this car. And there isnt tilt steering. I had an 87 Nissan that had more than this car. But I love it just the same. I would buy another if the still made one new.

Coasting down hill is hard on brakes and dangerous.

Coasting down hills is not hard on brakes and it isn't dangerous... unless it is a major mountain road... and the car is filled to the brim.

Coasting down medium sized hills is fine, the brakes will take it fine unless the car is totally filled w people.

Coasting is how to get high MPG.

We all know that... well most of us anyway.

PLUS: who are these people who think 125k is the limit for a metro-swift engine... I have yet to see one not get to 300k as long as it always has oil.

Small engines last as long as any of my big old V-8s

and I've had a lot of them... but no more... why bother?

A little engine is fine with me.
