During my 12000 miles of ownership, I must say that buying this car was a little bit of a gamble. If it went wrong and I had bought a lemon, it could have done me some serious financial harm.
But this is the beauty of the Honda NSX, it has UNRIVALLED reliability for a car of this calibre. Nothing has gone wrong, touch wood, however I have gone through two sets of rear tyres which were 200 quid a shot.
To my shock though, it was only £165 for its 9,000 service. Obviously with extras on top it was more, but for a service alone that is fantastic.
The next service (the third one) might sting me though, as it's due its spark plugs and brakes changing.
The car itself is like a piece of art. In stunning dark turquoise blue, with 17s all round, it looks unreal.
The 6 speed gearbox is as light as a Civic, although I heard a new clutch is £1600! Same goes for the steering as well.
The 24 valve 3.2 VTEC V6 engine needs to be heard to be believed. When it goes through VTEC it has an unrivalled deep V6 howl to it which is so addictive, we're talking about on a par with the noise a Modena makes!
Inside, well it's not edge of your seat stunning, but it is very refined and extremely well built. The NSX was hand built apparently (that's what the salesman said anyway!!). Nice to have cruise control as well, two buttons on the steering wheel.
In summary, this car is built to be a super-car in the city, but then dominate on the track. Ever so easy to drive and live with. I'm so in love with mine, and now I know why there was such a fuss made about that stunning engine.
I agree with you, I'm on my second NSX, after owning a 95, I bought a 03. Test drove 911 C4 and just can't stand the way P car's interior is set up. Good decision:)
Sorry you do not like the NSX what do you drive that is better?
A Honda can't be a Ferrari, a Seiko can't be a Rolex! But then again! Vice-versa! I love Ferraris, I love comfort, I love speed, I love reliability and I love being unique. One full hour on this site. My decision? I am buying a Mercedes E350 or BMW 530i to commute each day and guess what? I am buying the Honda NSX as well for those days we speak about now!
Satisfaction is a thing of the mind. To me, it's a better Ferrari. They all race in the F1 world, and almighty black prancing steed is tailing aside "monsieur a". Right from when old Enzo (may his gentle soul RIP), Societa Anonima Scuderia Ferrari and Battista Pinin started out coach building for sport cars, Ferraris were meant to be race cars and even then not all who could afford a Ferrari could unleash all its potentials.
God bless Nobuhiko Kawamoto and the VTEC team. They deserve the accolade. Honda started out with bikes and then trusty grocery and school run cars, and now we have a discussion on the table with Honda and the "il cavallino rampante"
Very few cars have a soul, (automobile aficionados know what this means, not the human or living soul in context), not all Ferraris have souls, but a lot of them do. To me, the NSX and S2000 have souls. I can't mention names, but stronger manufacturers have tried and spend $$ billions $$$ to achieve this with very little success.
On these grounds, both manufacturers should be treated with respect, everyone could air their own notion and raise their motions, but personal rash conclusions should be avoided.
Happy motoring and thanks again to the Car Survey web team.
I love this website.

Please don't try to make the nsx something it isn't. It only has ~300 horsepower and can't make a sound anything like a Ferrari's. In fact the nsx sounds like any other high revving 6 cylinder japanese car and goes like your average mustang or camaro and can't even compete on the same track as a c6 vette anymore nevermind a ferrari.

He died in 1994 dude then the NSX died in 2005. It is now 2007 and the NSX is now old under-performing news.

Ne one c that new protype tho?? rumors of a v-10 up front... just as big as a murcielagos, if they keep that they should deffinitely b able to compete with the ferraris, but still it's a honda and I don't know of too many people bsides my self whod buy that, it would have the reliability, kina like a user friendly super car, souds cool to me though and itd probably have killer handling like the relude and stuff.
OK well a Honda is a Honda and a Ferrari is a Ferrari simple as that. But for the price of the car and look of the car and everything else you get with a NSX you really can't beat it. Now don't get me wrong do I think a Ferrari with beat a NSX...yes, but I think I NSX going against any Ferrari would be a better race than a Mustang or a camaro.. and that doesn't mean every one flip out and be like "oh what about the SVT cobra or the Z28" I'm saying for BEING ONLY A V6 it's a beautiful car and yes for being a honda/acura it sonds more like a ferrari than any civic, integra, accord, or TL does stock from the factory.
This isn't a plain Accord or Camry. I drove my bosses and then could only afford a new Legend and then a new TL in time. If you have a mere $75,000 plus the NSX has been a nice vehicle. I'd buy the Viper though... in this price level.
