"Camaro the most bang for the buck"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Pinion bearings need to be replaced in the rear end at 83K.

Needed a wheel hub and bearing on front passenger side at 70K.

Rear defogger switch needed to replaced since it would only stay on for a couple of minutes at 89K.

On the driver seat side bolster has wear and has a hole the size of a quarter.

General comments?

Pros:

The Camaro coupe style still looks current and is a head turner. The Bose sound system is excellent for factory option audio. I have owned for two years and is reliable for a 10 year old car. You can pick one up used with low miles for a good price. The V6 Camaro has affordable insurance. Parts are plentiful and affordable.

Cons:

I do not care for all the blind spots the car has. The 160 HP 3.4 V6 power is adequate, but slow compared to today’s V6s. Does not handle well in snow and rain due to the fact that it is rear wheel drive.

Overall Review:

Bought in December 2003 with 70K on it for $3400 at a Lincoln dealer trying to unload the car since Camaro do not sell well in Michigan during the winter. The Camaro has 89K on it now. I plan on keeping the car for a long time. If you live in area where it has deep snow in the winter I would recommend buying a FWD winter beater to drive instead of the Camaro since it is slow and hard to drive in the snow.

Why do people buy V6 camaro's? If they want the real thing, they must go with a Z28! A v6 camaro is a little show and certainly no go.

Why would some one buy a Z28 when there is a Corvette. I have owned a 95 Z28 and 95 Vette. I really liked the vette a lot better then the Camaro. Both had LT1s, but the Vette handled better, moved faster, and I belonged to a Corvette club. The only thing is 95 Vetted stickered at $38,700 and the 95 Z28 was $23,400. I guess it has to do with money. Most used Z28s are second or third owner POS that where owned by boy racers who want $5K for a 1995 Z28 with 120K with a rebuilt engine and trans. Vettes are usually well maintained owned by 40+ old people who just like the way it looks and like to drive it on weekends in the summer time hence low miles and one owners for a 10 year old car. Why buy a Z28 when you can get a Vette!

What do you think of the v6 3.8?

I am the original reviewer of this Camaro wanting to give an update since it just turned 100,000 miles today. I have owned this car for 3 years and 8 months and it has been very reliable (Never has stranded me anywhere). I have had to replace the front brakes after 29,000 miles (3 1/2 years). I had to replace oil pressure sending unit. I had to put a seat cover on the driver side seat because of the hole in the bolster of the seat. The clear coat on the hood is starting to come off in two places, but the paint on the rest of the car is perfect. This car has so far been more reliable then my first car (an 1986 model bought in 1992 with 68K miles) which lasted me 7 years and had 144K miles when I sold it.
