Well not much, I had to replace the sending unit, wheel bearing, cap and wires and a blower motor for the heater. There has not been a whole lot done to the car for repairs, its pretty solid. I do have all service records dated back to 1990.
It is my first car, and "no I did not get it from my parents", I actually bought it from my neighbour, and for a first car, it was the best move I ever made.
The car is actually quite fast for its age, acceleration is well above average, handling very responsive and with disc and drum brakes braking is actually impressive. The automatic trans with ect select button or "power button" as I call it shifts through the gears pretty whell. Even at 115hp it still can exceed limits of 175 kms.
I have a 1990 DX with the 16v 6 cyl engine also. It is still fairly quick, despite tranny problems. I've had to replace the EGR valve, which is standard on most Camrys from my experience.
No 6 cylinder has 16 valves.
This is my Camry "No wonder its the best selling car in North America" I have been having some problems lately, and was wondering if anyone out their would have a solution. My Camry has been idling rough lately for the past week. It only seems to happen when I come to a complete stop in drive (gear). I know that the car is old, and my catalytic converter is shot. I know this because when I went to get a donut gasket replaced, the mechanic put a crow bar up inside the converter and chunks of molded metal came out. "like coal" it still seems to have all the power, but it's just anonoying to have to put the car in Neutral just to stop it from shaking. Could it be a dirty fuel filter? or a vacuum leak? Any information would be helpful.
