When I first got the car it was Un-registered and all I needed to do to bring it up to code was replace the wiper motor ($8 from Super Cheap Auto) and replace the Left Indicator Light ($10 from Wreckers)
She's an Auto and I'm now kicking myself because I didn't opt for the 5sp Manual Transmission instead, but no matter. The only problem I have noticed that there is a CLONK sound every now and then, but I see that from other reviews that this is common. I just got my licence and this was and still is and will be my first car for quite some time to come. I only bought it for $600 from a grandmother and she has kept it in FABULOUS condition throuhgout its 18 years of life. Except for her stupid grandnson who ran into a mailbox and broke the Indicator. For a first car with Power Windows/Mirrors/Steering, Central Locking, Cruise Control and a myriad of other very welcome creature comforts I am very glad to say I am the proud owner of 1987 TN Magna SE. However I would recommend that before purchasing that you have a general check ver by a licenced mechanic paying special attension to the Auto gearbox. P. S the most comfortable eats I have even ridden in.
P.P.S I would also recommend using a higher octane content petrol (optimax ect.) it just seems to give it a bit more kick, which is what I like :).
Don't be afraid to put ur foot down off the lights it can put most cars to shame.
Hi there
i could tell you right now when you start hearing a clonk while driving that means the CV JOINTS need replacing which mean sell the car and get another because my magna executive station wagon cost me $350 each for 2 cv joint which make the front wheels go around and this is good advise!!!
Cheers.
