"A high performance bargain"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

I've had the car for some time.

The air meter is not working properly, but the car seems to still go. This part is very costly (£500.00 or over).

The tranmission box that controls the timing (£170.00).

The drive gear that controls the speedo clock on the dash. This is very easy to replace. It is on the end on the cable that goes into the gearbox. This part seems to go every 25,000 miles.

The back reverse light switch.

CV boots. But really you will get this with every car at this age. But it is a very good car.

General comments?

It's got some kick. Well a lot of kick. Good car throughout. But the only thing is, don't get the parts from Nissan, you need to take another morgage out.

I have had this car for 1 year now, it is so powerful it is unbelievable. It will leave nearly anything on the road like Vauxhall Cavalier GSIs, RS Turbos, Corolla GTIs, and Citroen Saxos.

Since I have had this car nothing has gone wrong except for the exaust pipe, and it is so reliable. People underestimate the Sunny.

I have had this car for nearly two years, I get so much kick out of it, it is awesome.

I have left so many cars with my 5 door 1800cc twin cam 16v Nissan Sunny it is unbelievable. Last week I left a Corolla GTI for dust, the pickup on it is awesome, it will leave for dead your average Cavalier GSI on pick up, the only problem is I should have bought it before.

The thing is, the Sunny is so underestimated people on your average Nova GSI want to give you a race and when you leave them for dead they are amazed. A wolf in sheeps clothing (IT CERTAINLY IS). My next car will be my Sunny's bigger brother, the Sunny GTR and then I will mess about with Cossies, Scoobys, Evos etc.

I have a Nissan Sunny 1.8 twin cam coupe.

Everyone here is right when they say this car goes quick - I've had 140mph from mine, although the car doesn't handle very well at that speed - too much travel on the suspension, but the engine will take you there. Also, because it uses the same engine as the 200sx, albeit without a Turbo, all the parts that make up the engine are rated to take 200sx power.

I'd like to know who'll fit a turbo for me, all I need sorted is the ECU, wiring and the manifold/turbo/etc - should be straight forward to someone who knows what they're doing.

I get 0-60 in 7.7 seconds, although I have fitted a K&N 57i air filter (easy job to do - took 20 minutes) but even before I was getting 8 flat - the air filter makes the engine sound nice though, saves on petrol and gives a bit more high rev power (you need to turn a screw in the mass air sensor to enrich the fuel/air mix - garages will do this for a tenner at the very most)

alloy wheels make this thing handle really well too, gets rid of that nasty understeer.

Suspension would be nice, but the standard suspension is much better than most other makes normal crap.

The car is long, so the turning circle isn't the best, but the positive drive is just sooo rewarding for a non turbo car that you don't care.

The sound of the engine is fantastic, it really growls, and its sounds like it likes it too - not like your average vauxhall/ford/rover that sound like their screaming "rape" when you push them a little.

As for what goes wrong?

Well, for me - passenger ball joint (and you can't buy them individually - they come fitted to a wishbone which costs £130 inc fitting)

my sun-roof lets in a very small amount of water occasionally (not that much, just mist on cold mornings)

clutch master cylinder needed replacing

power steering pump needs doing.

Not that much really, when you consider its 12 years old (g reg)

This car is great, the only thing I don't like about it is that its not rear wheel drive - if only *sigh*
