Not at the moment. Still new. Awaiting other comments about this car.
Semi Automatic transmission is really fun for this car.
TUV approved. Savvy is the only Malaysian car with this approval.
Lotus handling.
R3 concept is really nice. With engine power up to 100bhp for a 1.2 litre small car.
For a small car, it has good ride and handling, soak all bumps. Love it.
Savvy is scrutinized by TUV to maintained it's quality. Savvy will be my last model to buy if Proton cars still giving problems.
Paddle shift should be more fun apart from gear stick.R3 body-kit with performance part makes Savvy a hot hatch. Rear muffler up 4hp.
Yeah I just bought a brand new 2006 savvy it's a very reliable economical car have had no problems with it mechanicaly just trouble finding body kit to pretty it up as well as performance parts.
So if you know any websites with performance parts and body kits let me know.
Just bought Savvy AMT with Zero body-kit. Great handling, no problem. Intend to get rear sports muffler for better back pressure. An upgrade to 16inch tyre (195/45/16) still in planning because I am not sure whether it requires wheel spacer for wide tires.
I saw in website: racerallyresearch. com and proton. com regarding performance parts. Reasonable price. They even offer Black Headlight, lowered spring etc. How nice if they have performance computer box.
Very nice car, fuel economy renault engine.
So how economic is the fuel consumption?
According to manufacturer figures 5.4ltr/100 km at constant speed of 90km/h. I believe the figure is based 'on wheel' reading because I have tested it.
On the other hand, the fuel consumption figure will be different if using wider tyres and big rims (unless lightweight). Plus unnecessary other factors such as reving engine, overload, low octane fuel etc. Reading the manual book is a must for me.
AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) or 'robotics' is very useful. But need to get used to it in few days especially going uphill, slope parking or stopping on a hilly road.
I enjoy the car with AMT because of my willingness to learn by changing from manual, auto to AMT.
Surprisingly a very minimum wind noise. Barely can hear it.
I own one n I think it's a good fun car to drive.
Only thing the interior is tooo simple... too little imagination.. mush cheap plastics..
Love the front headlamps with the position lamp on.. the illumination surrounds the headlamps nicely...
Its style is very modern..different...
Had the car for 3 weeks and so far is frugal with fuel (even when shod with 195/50 15 tyres!) and has excellent road holding for such a small car. Overall, the Savvy is an entertaining car that easily allow you to overlook the hard interior plastics (not that they are a big problem to start with). Certainly value for money.
Lovely. Took a test drive and compared it with Satria NEO. NEO looks better externally, but Savvy provides comfort. Now until end of July ProtonEdar is giving 6 pieces Zero bodykit and zero kit alloy wheel fro MYR42.050.07. I'll be buying it.
Yeah, I bought a brand new Savvy R3 4 month ago and I can say the handling is very good for a small car. I already tested the Renault Clio (very lazy car) which uses the same engine as the Savvy. The engine works better on the proton's chassis, better acceleration and top speed. I really satisfied the car and I'm thinking to change the muffler!!!
To proton holdings:
Keep it up, you are on the right track
I collected my Savvy in July 2006. The car is only 1.5 months old and has done just over 2600km. The car has been on the back of a tow truck three times now due to electrical faults. The car keeps blowing a fuse and appears to be wired up wrong. I don't know if anyone else has had this problem? The car just shuts down in the middle of the road and seems to pick the worst time to do it eg. peak hour traffic. I have lost all confidence in the car. Not happy with my first Proton : (
Already Installed R3 Rear Muffler. Quite impressive with slightly deep grumbling noise. Normal Rear muffler box is visible just under the rear bumper, but R3 Muffler is smaller and lighter. You cannot see the R3 rear muffler box, only tailpipe.
The best fuel consumption I have ever tested and achieved is 515km for 28 litres. Using RON98 unleaded fuel.
Seeing previous comment, I have been advised to get 2006 model.2005 model do have headlamp and fuses blow up. The 2006 model wiring has been revamped. So far no problem.
I suggest the owner ask Car Manufacturer to look into it and repair it if it is under warranty.
Owned the car for a year now, overall, it's a fine car for the money. Acceleration in untrained hands like mine is 13sec from 0 to 100 (kph) and my personal best top speed is a tad over 180kph before the rev limiter cuts the engine off.
Fuel consumption, doing roughly 120km per day, the car gives a good average of 6 liters for 100km with driving speed ranging from 60kph to 140kph. Personal best is 5liter to 100km, which is 280km of highways at 110kph almost constant.
Torque, I know I can't expect much from a 1.1liter, but a drive up the hills of "Genting Highlands" surprises me as the engine were eager to rev up and pulling quite decently. Of course on steeper slower uphill turns, you'll be reaching for the 1st and 2nd gear.
Reliability, I've had 50 000km plus clocked so far with no mechanical or electrical failure, except a damaged hub bearing after driving over a deep pothole. The 50 profile tires offers grip, but if you run over potholes deep enough, the rims will dent easily.
My verdict, a very nice car, can really surprises bigger capacity car when you pull by their side at 170kph, and even keep up if not outrun bigger cars in twisty roads. It doesn't accelerate like crazy, but once you are at speed, you won't need to slow down much, cause it handles pretty well.
