2003 Renault Laguna 1.9dci from UK and Ireland - Comments

18th Dec 2005, 18:41

"A good car, but not suited for Irish roads or hard driving"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Stereo had to be replaced

Radiator had to be replaced

Clutch had to be replaced

seat belt had to be replaced

electric motors for front windows had to be replaced

Turbo went into "safe mode" numerous times

Exhaust cover often bends when splashed by water

Had to get AA out to start it

Tyre sensors fault

Tyres wear quickly, but this may be tyres / drivers fault and not the car.

General comments?

This car is a good performer and has good road handling (assisted by having 4 pirelli 6000's under it. It has plenty of extras and is very comfortable.

This is my third renault and will probably be my last considering I never had to bring any of my previous two to a garage to be fixed, and I had to bring this one numerous times in first two years.

I am from Romania and I have my Laguna since 2003 (1.9 diesel, Privilege, manual gearbox) and I had absolutely no problems. Up to now (50.000 km) it proved to be a reliable and comfortable car – I had to change only a bulb on the number plate. I have to mention that the roads in Romania are quite poor compared with Western Europe.

The technical revisions are also quite cheap compared with other manufactures and same class.

The engine starts even when outside are minus 20 degrees Celsius from the first push.

I intend to sell the car and buy also a Laguna, but with the new 2 liters diesel engine (150 HP, 340 Nm torque).
