Absolutely nothing except for worn front brakepads.
I brought this car with me from Australia for my two year stay in UK. This car is a dream come true. It is an eight seater with enough room to very comfortably seat three adults in the back seats and a further two/three kids in the forward facing seats in the "boot" and even some luggage behind them again.
The dual airconditioning and the fridge between the seats are perfect for keeping everyone fresh on long trips even though it is not as warm here in the UK as it is at home in Australia. We have three kids and they have a field day in the big back seat.
This car look massive at first but it is only slightly bigger than my last Range Rover. I adore this car but no car can compete with Jaguar when it comes to status and the "personal" feeling of the car, neither can the LX470 compete with Range Rover although I will probably never switch back.
The visual impact of this car is enormous. People are pointing and turning for second looks and even waiting for us when parked to ask where we got the car from.
I'm missing the point - what is so special about Range Rover? Except that it is a crappy British truck?
Toyota has a so much better reputation.

How about the fact that Ranges have a air of understated style.
2001 Range Rover 4.6hse - Beautiful car!
I think Lexus attracts Volvo buyers.
:) I never had a Volvo, though I'm pretty familiar with those cars. Sorry, don't like Volvo.
Understated stile in RR? You myst be kidding :) Sorry, I understand what you're trying to say, but can't really agree.
RR is a nice truck, but far from being perfect. And in many ways it is even far from being good (interior, ride and handling). Good off-road, but TLC is not bad either, better in fact.
OK, let me just put it this way -- I can't even consider to go for a RR if TLC (or Lexus for that matter) is available.

Alex.

Finally!!
A car manufacturer has put end to the myth that the German's have the benchmark. The Japanese marque Lexus has more to offer than its rivals and it is no more obvious than in 2002.
I have recently purchased a new Lexus LX470 having given all of the opposition serious thought. However, if buying a luxury 4WD with some intention of going further offroad than most, there is simply no equal.
This is a superbly appointed vehicle with a build quality to match. The fine interior is complemented with an off-rad ruggedness than is second to none.
In summary, no longer can the prestige German or British badges justify my money when the Lexus family are producing vehicles of this calibre.

The 1970-1995 Range Rover was a peerless piece of design, the 1995-2001 Range Rover is a shoddy, bland, metrocab.
OK I drove the RR 2004 when considering the cars. Owned by FORD and parts made from BMW and then the block type styling is really not that great when compared with the market place. One may "need" the RR name to feel accepted, but for those with real means the Lexus is hands down the better vehicle. What will the re-sale be on that FORD, oops I mean Range Rover in 3 years compared to the Lexus???
The LX470 has been, by far, the very best vehicle I have ever owned. In the past 6 years I've owned 2 BMWs, a Mercedes, a Landcruiser, a Land Rover Discovery, and the LX470 -- the LX470 is a far better vehicle than any of the others. It has the plushest, quietest ride of any SUV (and most luxury cars) out there, handles quite well if you turn the shock absorbers to "Sport" mode, has variable ride height for off-roading, and has fantastic all-wheel-drive and off-roading ability. It is also more beautiful and distinctive than any other SUV except perhaps the new Range Rover, which holds only 5 passengers. The LX470 could use another 100 horsepower to keep up with the Range Rover, but the 4.7-liter V8 is plenty powerful for daily driving and the transmission is remarkably smooth. The brakes are terrific, and traction control is a wonder in the snow. Even after the original bumper-to-bumper warranty expired on our 2000 LX470, Lexus honored it and replaced the Nakamichi in-dash CD changer. It is the only warranty work ever done on this vehicle, which now has 65,000 miles and still looks and runs like it did when it was brand new. Get one before Toyota quits making them! It is worth every penny of the $65,000 asking price!
Comparing the Lexus LX470 with the Toyota Land Cruiser 100/Amazon/VX, what is really the difference?
As far as I can see, the only differences between the Toyota Land Cruiser Amazon and LX470 is the front lights/grill on both vehicles are different, the LX470 has a more luxurious interior, and the LX470 doesn't get the 4.2 Litre Turbo Diesel engine the Amazon gets.
The suspension is very different b/w the TLC and the LX470, with the LX offering the height control and sport/norm control.
Some creature comforts aren't available in the LC, like the power tilt and telescoping steering wheel... only in the Lexus.
I'd have to agree with the lot of you. I'm only 22 years old, but have had my share of vehicles. For the size and weight, the lx470 is unmatched in performance-ride-comfort-appearance. Not to mention the LeXuS name itself screams reliability (thanks to Toyota). My 99' LX is 135k miles old and runs like a champ.
