1988 Mitsubishi Mighty Max from North America - Comments

"Like a buffalo coin, rare!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

I bought the truck for 450 bucks from a young kids dad.

Started it and sounded like it was falling apart.

Asked him for a quart of oil, ran like a champ, funny.

Kid had oversize tires, changed them to stock, steering shaking fixed.

Driver side mirror missing, changed for 10 dollars.

Oil change and tune up. runs like champ.

General comments?

Good transportation no need to upgrade does the job just fine.

Could use better seats, but that is the same with most trucks.

Cannot figure out why this trucks smoke so much? specially during start up and its intermittent.

Not easy to find parts new or used.

Why does it smoke so much?

Cause it burns oil, just like every other Mitsubishi from back then.

Get used to it.

The smoking is 100 percent due to the mikuni over engineered carb.

They are almost always past the fail point these days. A weber swap (anyone can accomplish with 4 tools :) ) You will be rewarded with better statrs, better MPG and more power.

ANYONE reading this that is thinking of buying one of these jewels... look for one that has the 4.22 gears like mine. I have 5 vehicles with the same basic motor (G54b), 4 conquests and my beloved 88 macro cab 4x4 with the deluxe equipment package.

Check out www.starquestclub.com, a few of my buddies even have a turbo motor from a conquest/starion in their trucks.

The skies the limits these days... anywhere from 250whp/350wtq to over 500whp can and has been done.

Monty.
