"The 20 year itch"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

For some reason the lights stared shorting out. I really never fixed that problem.

The leather seats are great, but they gave me a rash that would bleed when I scratched it. Plus they make you're butt sweat.

Had the clutch replaced, not a big deal.

Engine was replaced with a transverse north-star V8, yes I had the time and money to do it my self.

Front trunk latch broke, go that fixed.

General comments?

I really liked this car.

The old V6 engine was good, but putting the north-star engine in her really made the car come alive. It took lots of modification, but it does work. Now it's a 300hp 4 speed auto rocket.

Like the looks and comments I get from it.

But for some reason the leather seats make my butt get a rash, so I did not drive the car often. Finally I put seat covers on, and my butt is fine now, LOL.

Never knew that a nortstar could fit back there. I would pay money to see such a setup. would anyone know the largest engine you could put back there?

I put a jet-engine in the back of mine. Sure makes getting home from the tavern a lot quicker at night!

Yes it is possible to put a northstar engine in the DMC. But with any engine swap there are a few things to consider. One is the mounts, which need to be moved slightly in order to fit the larger engine. Also, is the location of accessories like the alternator ect. I've seen such a setup and it works great when all the details are gone over. Much better than that other junk original six in there.

Www.delorean.co.uk has an article on the PRV V6 and has ways to get serious power 250+Hp from the PRV V6.

The best conversion I have seen use a longitudinal twin turbo Mazda triple rotor rotary engine with a porsche 911 gear box. Do a search on Google if you don't believe me. 0-60 4.5 seconds and 165mph top speed. Looks lovely in black much better than the silly brushed stainless finish.

I believe you. I saw the video snippet of this car in action a few years ago and it simply took off like a scalded cat. The 20B turbo rotary sounds more like a turbine when it's in the higher rpm ranges and has none of the low-end torque limitations seen in the normally-aspirated 12A and 13B twin-rotor engines.

This car was, at that time, registered in Florida and was advertised for sale for around $25,000 or $35,000. I forget which.

I put a flux capacitor in my Delorean and now it drives like a dream! But seriously, this car is great if you have the patience to take care of it. The battery tends to get drained though, so it should be "exercised" once a week or so. I'm fond of the brushed metal look myself.

1) How much money?

2) Installing a Northstar engine is complicated when you try to install it in a DeLorean

3) It would have been much more simple to modify the V6

4) Your gas mileage is now shot all to heck

5) But it isn't such a bad idea after all.

A Cadillac Northstar will fit in a DeLorean, and probably wouldn't be any worse as far as gas mileage goes. I have a Northstar in my DMC (not running yet waiting on ECM). I mated my 2001 northstar (from an eldorado) to a porsche 911 (915) 5speed tranny. its been 5 years in the making due to financial trouble and moving every 6 months doesn't help either. belive it or not, the northstar is only about 50lbs or so heavier than the PRV6 stock motor. LIVE THE DREAM!

I'm surprised that a Northstar V-8 is within 50lbs. of the Delorean's PRV-6. Do you know how much each engine weighs?
