"It runs like a Porsche 100Mph on freeway (highway patrol ticket is on your cost)"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The original '69 KG was considerate in the 60's as "The slow sports car ever made" The concept was designed to add a new attractive KARMANN build and GHIA design body into the standard BUG-SEDAN 1200cm3 chassis, using almost the same production line. During 50's and 60'KG never was an option for working class people. Usually 1rst owners where "modern" people, executives, architects, models.. Some years VW marketing focus the car image for very rich girls

Each one of its 4 piston cylinders develop 1200cm3.chmber for spark+gas explosions producing car movement. This trustful VW motor was the best made at the time, many KG and Bug's still running it.

The 70's era upgrade some KG to 1600cm3 (agency opt), VW definitely close KG production, mooving to RABBIT, SEDAN and VW Brazil made BRASILIA and a powerful cargo KOMBI 2000cm3 motor PORSCHE Design. Just few KG prototypes where lucky to move and successfully adapting this unusual Porsche/VW 2000cm3 motor, best choice for dragster races series prototypes.

General comments?

Porsche/VW motor 2000cm3 Coupe, Blue/Silver, 2 carbs, new chrome 8b wheels, CA 2006 plates & title. Motor and Body excellent, Paint good, Interior fine, new brake system and disks.

Perfect body 1969 Karmann-Ghia, one of the top wanted year series, top silver pearl finish and dark classic-blue for the body. 2 carbs, super 2000Cm3 huge motor, 2 mufflers and respective 4" chrome escape bullet-pipes. Believe me the car looks beautiful, catch all the eyes around it, sounds even better, will use cheap accessories and replacement parts (for Bug), economy use of gas and the best think …It runs like a Porsche 100Mph on freeway (highway patrol ticket is on your cost).

I found the 1969 KG VIN# 149487178 at Tijuana Mexico, 7 years ago, I am 3nd owner, at that time have no idea about motor codes or numbers, I know the concept history and love the car line. Close the deal in $4000.USD the seller also offer an extra Porsche/VW 2000cm3 motor, $500. Then I find experienced VW engeniers in nSan Diego and Tijuana, to handle the project, was very helpfull find places like Vee Parts & Accessories, they got all the stuff needed for the successful upgrade.

By 1990 a lot of KG still running in Europe and North America, where practically disintegrating, the rust like cancer oxide the metal body, heavy rain, snow and warm humidity after many years produce that killer rust, but my car was very lucky, never snows in Southwest California, we got the perfect weather, the car has no rust on top, only 2 or 3 little points near the front tires low area, fixed. The car will be fine next 20 years and more.

Good to hear you like the car.

For your information the engine capacity is the swept capacity of all the cylinders added together, not the swept capacity of a single cylinder.

A rather garbled and none too accurate "history" of the K-G, followed by a description of his car, which is obviously not original, but nothing really resembling a review... he does appear to like the K-G, and he says he drives it 100 mph. That must be interesting, to say the least.
