"Cheap to keep, Hard to kill!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Nothing! Only normal wear:

Serviced per Toyota shedule: major service cost <$100 in parts!

Struts replaced after 200,000mi;

Rear shocks at 250,000mi;

Rear wheel bearings at 250,000mi;

Front brake pads every 50Kmi; rear brakes changed ONCE in 350Kmi!

Tires, oil, filters, etc.

Replaced seat covers;

General comments?

Cheap to keep and hard to kill. picked out by a toyota mechanic friend for a teenage driver. Was well used when we got it. Thought the fuel gauge was broken the first week, it didn't move from 3/4...then I put 2.5 gal of gas in it! 40+MPG. Basic transport, surprisingly fun to drive: not much power, but nice handling. Nothing on this car is complicated or expensive.

It was killed a few years ago by a lincold continental - shortened the wheel base on the right side 4", yet I was able to drive it home! Still hoping to find a clean front clip...

Love the Car. You can also race it on road or rally races. Parts are a dinosaur find. Visit the World Famous www.KP61.net
