Check engine light came on at about 162,000 miles. Showed a code and cost about $450 to fix.
Water comes in the front passenger side floor when it rains hard.
I have owned the car for 2 1/2 years and have been very satisfied. I bought the car from my company when car was roughly 3 years old with 132,000. It was a company car and was maintained very well.
I bought it for $5,500 and the only option I think I don't have is leather and a sun roof. The car is in great shape and is very reliable. Thank god I have not had the electrical failures I am reading about.
I have the a black GL model with a rear spoiler, it has a sporty sedan look. The V-6 3.8 is a good motor which responds well. The interior and dash was well designed also.

If the Intrigue is a 2000, then it would have the 3.5 DOHC, not the 3.8. They stopped putting the 3.8 in that car after the 99 model year.
I'm going to have to check again, but I think my 2000 gl model has the 3.8.and yes since I have owned mine the the shifter lights on the center console do not light up. its funny after reading all these messages I noticed the flickering of the headlights tonight.I'm glad I just bought a dodge charger!!!i love it.
Your right, my 2000 intrigue has a 3.5 v-6 twin cam.
I have a 98 Intrigue with 284,000 miles, and absolutely love it. I have had to replace 4 window regulators. Other than that, my car has been pretty maintance free. I took it in for preventative maintenance (spark plugs, belts, hoses, transmission and coolant service) at 150,000 miles. I change my own oil every 5,000 miles and the air filter about 3 times a year. The car doesn't use a drop of oil and still has that pep and handling that drew me to it.
A couple of years ago, I too had some water in the front floorboard on the passenger's side after a heavy rain. It was caused by an improperly installed gasket on the cabin air filter. This was an easy thing for my repairman to fix.
All I can say is I LOVE MY INTRIGUE! Love the power, love the look, love the ride! I too had the water in the passager side issue and the shop said leaves got into something and plugged up the drain. (???) Whatever, it's fine now.
The service engine light has been on constantly for about 6 months. Previously, it came on only when a drastic outside temperature change. I have read this is a defect of the 2000 Intrigue. This issue hasn't cause any problems.
The last couple of years, it does use some oil, but only after long trips. I can't find any leaks and neither have others.
I have a small issue with the overflow tank reservoir, but after 170k+ miles, I'm not complaining.
Highway cruising speed: 80+mph and no issue. This car is strong, fast, and sporty.
My only "complaint" is the back seats don't fold down, but that's just a personal thing for storage purposes.
I can't say enough how much I LOVE THIS CAR!
Funny, I have never seen one that the rear seats don't fold down. The only think I can think of is look in your trunk. If you see a wall of steel then O.K. they don't fold. If you don't see a formed wall of steel the same colour as the car then the seats DO fold. I have noticed that the pull tab for the lock can get tucked into the seat back quite a ways.
