Some squeaks from the steering column especially over bumps.
I love this car. I love the power, comfort, design and the stares I get whenever I drive this baby. at 270 hp this suv will out-accelerate most other cars. nissan has put in a lot of $ into design and it shows. the murano and the maxima are my other favorites. one drawback for the pathfinder: I only get about 17mpg avg. also it only drinks premium. and with price of gas the way it is...
However, overall this is the best suv in its class (i test drove at least 7 other models).
The new 2006 model has the look of Armada with a 290 HP. WOW.
I have a Pathfinder LE 2005.
It runs just fine on 87 octane, don't ping or hesitate upon acceleration.
I love it, seats are comfortable as opposed to complaints I have heard about Toyota 4 Runners.
I also get 17 MPG, but that is no matter how I drive it hard or I baby it.
Enjoy your rig, but don't count on the figures. 270hp on a V6 is available on the crank, not on the wheels. Japanese figures are sometime confusing when you add weight, available torque etc... A Jetta will outperform you with 120hp.
Another exemple is a 4.7 Jeep with a 0-60 in 7.0 seconds. It can delivered most of it's torque below the 4000 mark while your engine is not even breathing, Torque is the key...
By the way, don't you have American Dana 44 rear axle... Won't break.. Used with Ford, GM, Jeep...
I traded in my 2000 Chevy Sub for my 2006 Pathfinder SE and I LOVE it. I am a family of 5 and we all enjoy our ride. Very pleased with our decision on purchasing this vehicle.
We have recently discovered the many virtues of the 2006 Nissan Pathfinder. We currently own a 1999 Ford Exploder (believe me, it comes by its name honestly) and are in search of a Pathfinder LE. What impressed us most was the quality and features for the money. It handled very well and delivered great power; it also looks great offering a comfortable and quiet ride. With three kids we appreciate the safety features that come standard on the LE model. As for mileage, we're hoping it's as good as the EPA ratings indicate. The 2007 boast 760km to the 80 litre tank on the highway and 550km in the city. How have the 2006's performed?
I have an '06 S model, just purchased it factory certified. Also getting about 17 MPG. Runs fine on 87 octane though, don't waste your money on premium unless you are towing something heavy. So far I love it, handles great and rides smooth for a truck. The seating/storage design is the best in class. so many options for seating and cargo.
Traded in my 2003 Toyota Highlander (which was falling apart at 122K miles, pretty disapointed with this vehicle. They are made by Lexus in Japan for Pete's sake).
