I have had to buy a new alternator, power steering pump and hoses, and a new fuel filter so far within 2.5 years of owning the car. I have gone through two power steering pumps, however I believe that the fault of these were in the hands of the installer. It is developing a trunk leak which I cannot find the source of (if anyone has information as to where it could be coming from please let me know at sean@myfatwallet.biz)
This car is unbelievable. I would not sell it for $1,000,000.00 Solely for the fact that I know this car will be an crowd pleaser in the years to come. Of course you see the 67' Chevelles and Corvettes all over the place, but how many people can say that they own a good condition 1976 Pontiac LeMans Sport Coupe. The last muscle car. Although the power could be better, due to the lack of weight loss, you get your satisfaction know what could happen if the car was lighter. The steering is unbelievable as well. You can drive this car with your pinkie, and still have complete control over it. However, I am not too please about the fuel consumption, mainly due to the fact that you don't get as much power as you would like for the amount of fuel burned.
"The last muscle car"? You copied that from the other '76 Lemans review on this site, didn't you? Repeating it doesn't make it true though: the 76 Lemans is not a muscle car. You admitted as much yourself-too much weight and too little power. Also, being able to steer with one pinkie is not generally considered a good thing when evaluating handling.
Finally, with a million dollars you could quite easily buy up all the remaining '76 Lemans that have escaped the junkyard so far. Think what a crowd pleaser that would be.
Oh, and that trunk leak is probably coming in through the rear window gasket. Remove the molding and you will probably find deteriorated caulking and possibly rust holes which are allowing water to enter the trunk.
Man, what a relic.
