Absolutley nothing. well I ripped the choke off the carb cause it was, well choking itself all the time.
This car is a blast to drive. it costs me 15 dollars to fill up with mid grade!!! I get 25 mpg in the city. I love this car. Reliable and starts on the coldest days even with no choke.
Volkswagen and Honda rims fit this car. I currentley have 60 series tires on the rear. kind of looks mean on vw gti rims.
Quick enough to pass people in and will do over 85 mph, though its kind of scary at those speeds. Thank god its a 4 speed manual, otherwise I wouldn't drive it. Plus the manual adds $1,000 to the blue book for this car. Awesome.
This reviewer is delusional. Kelly Blue Book for an '86 Chevette (doesn't go back to 1982) is $1335 for one in EXCELLENT condition with automatic. The manual transmission makes it worth less, not more.
Do agree that driving 85 mph in a beater Chevette is scary. Plus a lot of other adjectives that would be uncomplimentary to the driver.
To the commenter above if you actually look in NADA you will see that the manual tranny does add to the price of vehicle, not saying it should be worth that much, but thaats what it says.
Really? What NADA guide are you referring to? One from 1990? The current edition only goes back 10 years so a 1982 would not be in it. And its ridiculous to claim that a car that is not even worth $1000 is going to be worth that much more because it has a manual transmission!
Oh, it's a $50 beater, who cares whether its in the NADA book or not. Drive it til it dies, pull off the tag and leave it on the side of the road, then go buy another one, sheesh.
I've logged 15,000 miles on the Chevette since I first put in my comment. Not one single thing has gone wrong. For a $50 car its been the best so far with such little maintenance. The thing is still a blast to drive and my girlfriend hates it, so therefore it always has a home with me LOL.
The little chevette now has 90,000 on it and still not a thing gone wrong. for such a cheaply made car it seems to be better built than these newer cars lol. all time high gas mileage was a whopping 32 mpg. with a carburetor at that lol.
