Nothing really!! just general maintenence.. although I have had some front end problems.. had to replace the tire rods at 175000, there is a weird squeeqing noise coming from the front end. other than that no problems.!!
Honestly.. I have never thought much of volkswagen, only because I have heard so many bad things about them. this car has really won my heart. its been with me now for 4 years and I love this car. you can feel the quality when you drive its solid!!
Your front end squeaks are from the control arm bushings that are worn out. If you are keeping the car I would suggest replacing them all, complete packages can be bought on line with all 8 arms and the tie rod ends for around 500 instead of 100-175 a piece.
