I had to replace valve cover and do overall tune up (change spark plugs, wires, filters).
I have 90k 900se v6 - there is no timing belt problems so far. I had some valve covers changed due to a leak, but the car overall is nice. I love the way it handles on the road - very stable in curves. The engine is a little bit lazy for v6 and it does not accelerate as fast as the turbo 4cyl versions, but I still like the car very much. The interior is a littel bit loose and vibrates on bumps, but I can live with it.
You have a 12 Year Old Car with Just 80k Miles. Are you sure this Mileage is genuine? Your car seems to have experienced many problems for that kind of Mileage.
Try Subaru Impreza turbo version and you won't say that SAAB handles or performs well :)
To compare a Subaru w a Saab is like comparing apples to oranges - they are for different people and target markets.
